Too Many Problems
July 2, 2019
It was my first time using a WiFi monitor for the first time, and after the initial excitement, I was sadly let down.
Cons:
- The blue light on the camera lights up the whole room like a beacon. My son is used to sleeping in the dark, and this thing is so bright it's like he's under interrogation. At night I have to cover it up with a blanket, but this then renders the camera obsolete and I may as well be using an audio only monitor.
- After a noise notification, I go into the app to see/listen, but often it takes a while to connect, or it's unable to. So then I have to get up and check if I can hear my son crying, because the app won't connect. If it does connect, the sound is intermittent.
- It's not obvious whether the parent unit is turned on or off. Some night's we'd wake up hearing our son cry (from down the hall, not from the monitor), but no sound was coming from the monitor. The light was on, but the sound wasn't. We didn't know if it was just charging, or 'on on'. Also there's a lag in the sound.
Pros:
- I like the noise and movement notifications.
- App is simple to use
