Good stroller for use in the city
August 7, 2017
We used our new Zapp Flex recently on a trip to the zoo. Prior to using it for the first time, we read the instructions, completed the assembly, and familiarized ourselves with how to operate it. It took us quite some time and practice to figure out exactly how to fold the stroller once it was up. It's not intuitive and requires a few steps. The hardest part was getting used to the button used to fold and recline the seat that is located at the top of the seat. You have to press it a bit, then push a separate button to the side, then push the first button all the way in, and until we were used to doing it, it was pretty difficult to get the seat to fold. After not using it again for a few weeks, I again had difficulty using that particular button and remembering how to completely fold the stroller. That issue aside, we have found the stroller to be a nice size (not too big, not to small), with a decent canopy. It is overall very smooth and easy to maneuver. I like the separate pedals for locking and unlocking the wheels..very easy to use. The Zapp Flex worked pretty well for a trip to the zoo, except when off-roading onto rougher terrain, at which point it would occasionally get stuck. Our other stroller (a comparably sized and priced stroller) is better for rougher terrain. The Zapp Flex would be great for trips to the city, as it wouldn't be too huge or cumbersome to take on public transportation and would provide a smooth ride on sidewalks. I would say the overall maneuverability and smooth ride would be the best aspects of this stroller, while the complicated and finicky folding mechanism would be the downside. Our comparable stroller is much easier to fold and unfold, as you just lift a single strap and it folds closed. I will definitely use this stroller for trips to the city, but I will practice folding it before I leave home!
