I originally had an expensive enamel can for use in the nursery and once I switched to the Diaper Genie Elite, our noses were much happier! There is no bad smell at all, even when we go a little too long without changing the bag. Now that my baby is crawling and so curious, he can't get into it, which is great! I wouldn't want diapers all over the floor!

I have had my Diaper Genie Complete for a few months now. I love how easy it is to use and there's no dirty diaper stink in my nursery -- at all! It's a definite for our nursery! * I was provided a sample at no cost to facilitate a review however all opinions are my own.*

I originally purchased a diaper genie for my first child in 2011 and it was great! Lasted for 2 children and hardly had a problem. I recently had a third child and had to purchase another one. I have since gone through 2 as they have both broken. The piece on the back that pops the lid open when you hit the foot peddle keeps coming off and unless their is some truck I don't know about, it is pretty difficult to put it back together. Not to mention the whole system doesn't quite seem to quite fit together properly (the seam between the lid and the base never match properly). Overall, I'm really disappointed in the quality of the manufacturing.

My old diaper genie from 2011 worked so much better. This new one may look better, but it's completely useless and falls apart. I bought 2, and they both broke within months.

I purchased the new elite diaper genie in grey The cutter has not worked from day one all it does is shred the bags and never cuts it. Super frustrated with this product wish I had just stuck with the old one.

I absolutely love this product. It makes diaper changes and disposal much easier. I love how it makes it So I can't smell dirty diapers while waiting to be emptied.

Better than the basic model because it is hands free, but not nearly as good as the Elite that has been discontinued. I own both and the one shown on most websites is the original, but when you order it online you get the newer model. Cutter doesn't work as well on newer version and not as sleek a design. Wish the older Elite model was still available.

I got this two months ago and it has already broken. The pedal to open it has become very stiff and the inner chamber no longer closes. Total waste of money

We bought our first Diaper Genie over 7 years ago when I was first pregnant and that same one is still going strong! We have the Diaper Genie Elite as well now for our third baby and it's even better than the original. We're loving the gray which matches our nursery perfectly and keeps it smelling fresh. I bought this to replace the old model. Loved the idea of front access to remove bag but with this set up your only getting half the diapers in a load as you could with the old system. I am a father of twins and that means nearly daily clean outs when the old style was a 3-4 day clean out. Big difference and also means I was getting more miles out of my bags with the old one because I'm tying less knots. As for the smell, granted my baby girls are 20 months now and there processing much more complex foods but I never smelled the diapers in the old system and I always smell dirty diapers with the new one. The carbon filter is useless and I would prefer baking soda or equivalent. I strongly suggest getting the older style. I kind of regret purchasing this one. P.S.- why wouldn't you have a spot for dads on your reviews? Really only moms review and use products. Only moms take care of there children and have a clue what's happening I there home. Wow, playtex were not talking feminine care products on this site are we?!?

Received this as a gift at my baby shower, as I had registered for it. I've used older models in the past and therefor believed it was a fantastic product. Unfortunately, this newer version is cheaply made and ineffective. All packing is tossed long before baby came as I set it up in the nursery as preparation. Unfortunately the lid never works, doesn't close- which obviously doesn't contain smell. The refill doesn't fit snugly and diapers have to be shoved down below the closing piece. Very ineffective and disappointing.

This new version is horrible. I love the previous model until it broken and this is my only choice. It doesn't contain the smell. Eveytime you open it to put in a new diaper the smell is just pushed out and fills the room with dirty diaper smell. That is the whole reason you buy this. Plus it hardly hold any diapers compared to the older model. Very disappointed as this is a serious downgrade. Bring back the previous model.

We had an older model and loved it. That one lasted three years before some plastic bit broke and by then we didn't really need it anyway. With our second child we didn't hesitate to get another Diaper Genie, but this one never worked as well as our first one, and has broken now after only months. It was easy enough to use at first, though it holds far fewer diapers than the older model and the new ergonomics force much more waste when changing bags. Then it stopped opening, became impossible to fix or use and became a source of frustration and embarrassment.

I really like the way it keeps bad orders away. I have 4 in my house

I must say that I'm extremely disappointed with this purchase. It does not hold in the smell at all. It smells up the whole nursery and I constantly change the bag and carbon filter. I even have to wash and spray down the entire genie with bleach and let it air outside because the plastic absorbs the smell. This is just way to much work. My son is 11 months and my daughter is 8 years and with her I used a different diaper pail and never had any of these problems. I don't know what to do. I hate feeling like I wasted my money.

We loved this thing dearly for a few months until one day "pop", one of the plastic things broke off that opens one of the doors to shove the dirty diapers in. We managed to continue using it but shoving the diapers in through the other half of the door. Until finally "pop" the second plastic thing has broken off and its pretty much unusable. I think the concept is great and it really does work for hiding the diaper smell, but something needs to change with the design so the thing doesn't break after a few months of using it.

When i found out i was having a second baby this product was the first thing i thought i needed. This is a must get product!

So your baby has pooped. You change it and now the fun begins. You take it over to the molded plastic can that claims to contain smells. You press the button to open it. Nothing. You look at the back and try to realign. finally it works and you can get the top open....You shove and shove and shove... I created something I call the shoving stick to push it down. And every 2 days you take it out. Basically the opposite of the efficiency of putting it in the garbage and twice the annoyance of throwing diapers against the wall.

In the age of all the gadgets for raising kids i say this is near the top of the list. Have dogs? This is a must! I have always owned a diaper genie and didnt realize its FULL worth until today. We got snowed in and i had forgotten to pick up a new refill before the storm so i figured we would just have to throw the diapers in the outside garbage until we could get a new one. My have spent the last day and a half knocking over the garbage bin and ripping apart dirty diapers!!!!! Beyond annoyed and i will never take for granted this amazing product again!

I have been using this since I took my son home, it would have been perfect if the smell was contained.

The new design is awful. We've owned it for less then 2 weeks and it feel apart, the peddle stopped working and the lid won't open. We were warned that this was an issue at the store we bought it from. It does not hold very many diapers in the disposal area and you have to push the diapers through. I loved your old design and how well it worked including the large amount of diapers it held. Please Platex do back to your original design. I am returning the poorly working new genie and buying a used old style one

Bought it, set it up put a couple diapers in it, then when i pushed on the pedal i heard some springs springing and plastic breaking and that was the end of it working.

I bought 2 in the last month and the piece that slides in the back to raise and lower and open the sliding doors has broken on both of them..I am very disappointed in it, I'm back to the old fashion one where you just lift the lid and shove it in..I bought the pedal for my 90 year old mother because she has a hard time pushing something in the old one, needless to say, it didn't work..broke both times in less than a month

I've used the diaper genie for years, first with my oldest son and now with my little one. I loved it but the last 2 packs of refills I've bought the bags have been ripping. I had to cut the first 2 feet off the bag because it gets caught and rips. Now I'm using it and the bag keeps getting caught and ripping so it's song nothing to help with the smell. I'm thinking of switching brands I've been reading about them and the reviews aren't too bad.

I bought the Genie two months ago and found that the Genie also works for Adult diapers. I recommend this product for Convalescence Homes and for Adult Diaper home use.

I just had my second child and the diaper genie was on my list of must haves! I still have the original from 7 years ago but bought a new one as well. The only complaint I have is sometimes the lid doesn't close all the way. Still a great product!

I bought this in green, 1 star for the cute color. The step function is convenient. But we are very disappointed because it does not close completely on the sides. It does not lock the odor in. This is my 2nd baby so I've used the diaper genie before (oldest model) and I swear by it!! With this one, I keep smelling my baby' bottom coz I could smell stinky diaper only to find ouf I was sitting by the diaper genie, it didn't serve it's purpose. I was hoping that this being more expensive and fancier that it would be worth the money. NOT!

If I were rating the previous model, which I got prior to the birth of my now 15 month old and still use, I would give a rave review. It is because I loved it that I bought a second Diaper Genie a couple months ago in anticipation of my twins arrivals, only to find there was a new model. Unfortunately, the redesign is not user friendly at all. I would much rather take the time to pull my first Diaper Genie away from the wall to empty as opposed to the new one where it not only seems to hold a lot less diapers, but getting the bag cut and then up and out of the tilt out front frustrates me every time I have to do it. I hate to think how much more frustrated I am going to be once the twins are in diapers bigger then their size 1, but hopefully by that time their big brother will be out of diapers so that I can retire the new one and just use the "old" one.

I bought this a few weeks ago when my original diaper genie gave out. Loved it but not those Complete quite as much. I use for adult incontinence briefs. It does hold as many as the original genie and they do not drop down into the unit easily. Does Playtex still make the original?

I had the former style diaper genie and miss it dearly. I used it with my oldest child and thought it was the best thing next to sliced bread. So when I had my son, I started using it once again. Then one of the inside flap pieces broke so I ordered a new one which is the new design. Very disappointed! It does not seal odor as well and unloading it is more cumbersome. I find myself unloading it more often than my former one because the odor is unbearable. I wish my other hadn't broke as it was designed much better than this one.

I was gifted this for my shower with my 4th who is now 5mths old. I had one 14 years ago with my first and it was complicated but did the trick. I love the ease of use this provides as far as tossing diapers and changing refills but I hate having to track down scissors every time I have to empty it. The old one I had was able to cut the liner before opening the pail thus keeping the odor tucked inside. With this one I have to open it cut it ( smell released) tie it up then tie the loose end and feed it back through.

I have had a diaper genie before and it worked great. This one does not seem as good of quality as it has already broken. I have also had two refills that didn't open properly and the bags got wasted as it was coming out doubled over. Something broke in the middle of this one where the diaper falls into and now it doesn't open and close. Really disappointed.

I bought TWO! of these diaper genie's, one for my son's room and the other for the first floor. I am so disappointment in this product. Every single time we open it to put a dirty diaper in the pail, the smell from Inside the pail is horrible. And the horrible smells stays in the room for the next 10/15 minutes. We also have the 'Playtex carbon refil tray' for the pail. That does nothing! I have cleaned and sprayed fabreze in the pail multiple times. I am very disappointed in this product and would not recommend this to anyone. If anyone has a solution to our problem that would be wonderful!!!

I just bought the Diaper Genie Elite today. We haven't used it yet as our babe hasn't arrived, but I'm concerned about the gaps between the front and back pieces when put together. Is this normal? Or should I be returning it.

Just received one yesterday at my babysitter looking forward to using it!

I had the original diaper genie for our 1st and 2nd child. 4 years later we added a son to our family and decided to get the next step up. Putting it together was easy, but as soon as the insert was.... inserted, the lid would not fully close. I googled it and found tons having the same issue. I'm going to return it and figure something else out. It's just a shame and a hassle to go.all the way back to the store with a week old infant.

I am really happy with my Genie! No More Smell. Worth Every Cent!

I purchased this about 3 months ago after the latch on my previous one had broken. I had the other for 3 years with no issues, and the odor seal was excellent. This one smells the entire upstairs when opened to place in another diaper. Furthermore, the portion that holds the diapers is off track and never fully closes which again leaks out the diaper odors. We went from emptying the genie when its full to this one where we have to empty after just 3 or 4 diapers. Waste of money!!!

As a first time mom, I read everywhere that this is an unnecessary purchase. I 100% disagree. After 8 months I finally caved and it is a definite favorite of mine. No stinky diaper odor here! I love the ease of the step pedal and it is the perfect height. No bending down necessary!
