I have had prior experiences with diaper genie elite systems through my niece and nephew; when I was pregnant, I KNEW I had to have a diaper genie. I received the "complete" system and am totally disappointed. It is no where near as efficient as the older models and doesn't work properly once you have more than a few NB size diapers in it. Now that baby's diapers are getting bigger, the system works even less. Once there are diapers in it, the inner parts won't open properly when you use the pedal. So you have to force them open and jam diapers more than half way down with your hands just to get it to close up properly. It is disgusting and totally defeats the purpose. Also, I am blowing through refill bags like crazy because you cannot fit nearly as many diapers in the pail as it claims. Wish I could find the older model!

Purchased the Diaper Genie Complete in gray, worked great at first but after using it for 4 months it no longer works. When you step on the foot pedal it either doesn't open the lid, doesn't open the inside part that grabs on to the diaper or wont close. There's no way to fix it, we have tried. Very bummed.

It worked for a few weeks. Now pushing down on the lid opener opens only the top lid, but not the inner pocket, making it very difficult to push down the used diaper into the pail.

I am first time mom. I brought this few months ago cause everyone recommend it to me and told me it was a MUST HAVE. ok I decided to give it a try had my husband go to 3 different stores to look for specific one. I wanted. The smell that comes out of it everytime i open to thow a diaper away is awful lingers in the room till I spray freshner. I have changed the filter and tried an airfresher. I thought the purpose of this is to keep the smell in not let it out. Very disappointed in this product.

I don't know why it does not work for us at all. Every time i open the lid to dump the diaper in, the whole room stinks of smell coming out of diaper genie. I changed the filter. I even put an extra room freshener near the diaper genie yet it is still not working. For us it is just an expensive dustbin with a lid.

We have 2 of the elite models that have worked well for 2 years and just bought this one after our 2nd baby came along. I will probably donate this because it barely serves a purpose. It fills up so quickly compared to the older model forcing you to buy more refills. The lid also doesn't close every time bc diapers get stuck easily. Very poor design.

I have had a diaper genie for all three of my kids now and don't know what we would do without it. It's great at containing smells and is very compact to fit in a corner. I would highly recommend this as a "must have" to other moms.

I love this product because it eliminates odors while storing your dirty diapers. No more trips to the trash can outside anymore!

It is hard to get diapers in once it gets full and the odor control doesn't work so well when the child gets older. Also the lid broke and I can't seem to find a replacement part for it.

Was pretty happy with this until it broke after a year. Not something I was anticipating having to buy more than one of. Disappointed.

This lasted 2 weeks before breaking. The lid and door closures no longer shut. It feels like a flimsy design. It worked well for odors, but this was a waste of money considering how soon it broke. Disappointed with the quality.

My wife and I love our Diaper Genie. Finally, our nursery doesn't smell!! Especially with twins, those diapers add up so quickly. The bag refills are super easy to change out, and the room smells fresh. I'd recommend it to anyone!

I got my first one when my son was born 2 years ago and it was a life saver. I absolutely loved it so when expecting baby number 2 I said this was a must have. I've had it for two days and it is not holding the smell in... the compartments aren't even closing fully. I also have to push the diaper down sometimes. I am highly upset that it's not working the way the first one did.

Love the hands free feature of the Diaper Genie Elite as it is easy to hold baby and toss the diaper into the pail. The lock system holds in the odour so you don't have to smell dirty diapers each time you drop one in. The height of the pail is also great as my hubby is tall and doesn't have to bend over to use it.

The hinge that connects the bottom to the top easily comes apart... I currently am trying to find a way to fix it and not one thing comes up that's useful. Apparently many have had this issue :(

Bought this after our diaper genie elite got broke... This thing is garbage compared to the old one... Every time you go to empty it the thing falls apart. Half the time the bag gets hooked on something inside the pail and it gets a hole that makes a mess to clean up. I'm about to throw this thing in the garbage if I could find something better

I had the previous versions with my first three sons and after a 10 year gap between babies I had the genie down as a must have item again! After just a couple months of use the little feet on the bottom of the tilt door started snapping off, leaving holes on the bottom of the container. It should be heavy and strong enough to handle the job it was designed to do! The top lid never closes and is always popped open a little and I constantly have to shove my hand down on the hopper to push the diaper down lower. It never seals off the odor so when I add another diaper the smell is unreal! The nursery constantly smells like a dirty diaper pail and I always close the door because I can't get rid of the smell. This was the worst invention ever!!!

We are currently using a Diaper Genie Elite which happens to be our 3rd Genie purchased for our 3rd child. Unfortunately like the two previous models we've owned which didn't survive the diaper years of the child we purchased them for, this new one is also failing. We love the design and how effective it is at containing the dreaded smell that wafts out every time you open a regular garbage container, in that regard there is no better product BUT.... These Diaper Genies are made of cheap plastic that are simply friction fit together and they always seem to snap off a little peg or clip and next thing you know the lid won't open when you step on the plastic pedal. With our first two models that was the issue that ruined both. Today our new elite cracked at the button lock to open the canister. Which isn't the end of the world as the product still operates, but I'm still disappointed that our brand new Elite already has a crack, and the baby we purchased it for is only 8 days old, so I doubt this current model will make it through the Diaper period of our newest child and we will be stuck using a regular garbage in the end.

I recieved this diaper pail for my baby shower and I was so excited to use it only to have it fall apart after only I week. The springs stopped allowing the little doors inside to open and the diapers all got stuck and when I tried to dump the diapers out the whole contraption fell apart!! Now I have endless amounts of bags and no diaper genie!! Very disappointed in this product.

When we 1st got the diaper genie it was good. 6 months using it and now smells awful and the bottom hinge broke. The diaper genie can be empty and once you open and close the lid a strong smell of dirty diaper smell comes up. We've used the carbon and sprayed with scented disinfectant and still smells awful. Recently the bottom hinge broke while changing out a full bag of diapers. I believe that the door could not handle the weight of the diapers while removing them.

This is a major step back from the Diaper Genie Elite, and the the elite was not that great. This unit holds 10 full diapers before the lid no longer shuts. The unit is terribly designed and forces you to waste lengths of their expensive bags. I have twins and highly DO NOT recommend this product.

I had the diaper genie for a year and I just got rid of it...I wanted to get rid of it the week after my LO was born. It breaks all of the time and at 2 in the morning while you are trying to get your kid to sleep you also don't want to figure out how to fix it. It doesn't keep the smell in and is very wasteful when it comes to space in the actual diaper pail. If I could give a negative stars I would. I want my money back so I can buy a regular trash can cause that at least works.

I had the diaper genie "elite" for 4 years until the springs finally gave out and we bought the diaper genie "complete" since it is the only model available. Unfortunately it does not holds as many diapers, it's always getting jammed, the smell is not as air tight as the older model and the bags always get snagged on the inside hardware and tears a hole. I wish the elite model was still available. I hate having to take out the diapers every other day!

Received as a baby shower gift. Was so excited about it, but extremely disappointed!! After about 10 openings it will break. Have to take bag out and fix the back.

The Diaper Genie Complete is a must have! As a second time mama, I had tried a different diaper pail with our first. This one is SO.MUCH.BETTER for a couple reasons.1) The foot pedal! So easy to open and it is AMAZING that you don't need your hands. 2) The opening! It opens wide to take the the diaper in. With the other brand, I had to shove the diaper down into it which had the potential to create a mess. With the Diaper Genie, I can toss the dirty diapers in. SO happy with this product, especially for our two under two diaper situation we have going on. I can easily and highly recommend it!

Loved loved loved this in the beginning- worked amazing and held in the stinkiest! Easy to use. Functionality is great. However once it hit around 10 Months old the stink does not hold. I can put one diaper in there and it will stink in less than an hour and the whole room smells! So disappointed

my twins only have 3 months and i had to repair the internal system three times. The piece that hold the springs broke easily.

I thought the point of these was to keep the odors in but that's definitely not the case with my diaper genie! It smelled so bad that I had to leave it outside to air out. It also fell apart and wohtveitk properly when I try to open it :( totally bummed

My daughter is only 5 months old and our diaper genie is already defective. The area that rips the bags no longer cuts and I have to either rip at the perforated section (which is far to small) or try and cut the bags every time. It's kind of a hassle. I loved it until we started having these issues.

Bought the diaper genie complete before my baby was born. Baby just turned 6 months and the trap door breaks. It contained the odors well .. but with the trap door broken the lid wont even close. Very disappointed since alot of moms recommend this product.

I have had my diaper genie for a few months and it broke already. Not only that but before it broke you could smell the dirty diapers when it was closed, I even used the odor eliminator in it. It was convenient for putting diapers in.

The first time I unloaded this, it fell apart. It is not obvious how to put it back together, either. Playtex could spend a little less trying to sell and more time telling people how the bits and bobs go together and in what order.

Loved the diaper genie at first but after having it only 2 months it basically fell apart. One of the two sides stopped opening when the lever is pushed. When we opened it up to try to fix the problem, the whole thing fell apart and would not go back together as originally constructed.

I purchased the diaper genie elite for our second child after having great success with the diaper genie essentials for our first and it has been a huge fail. The diaper should never seem to properly go down, I feel like you always have to fiddle with it, or the lid doesn't close which does not help with the smell. I feel like we may as well have just purchased a normal garbage can for the diapers because it would do the same for containing the smell but at least not be as frustrating.

I was a fan of the Diaper Genie until I got this one (The new model deign)! The previous design did a MUCH better job of keeping smells contained! The older model also held more diapers before having to empty it. The hinge design of the front door on this has also already broken. Just all around a POOR design!!! I will not buy this model again. I will either look for the older model or buy something completely different.

I don't understand how this received a "best of 2017" seal. I bought this and hate it. It keeps odor out while closed, but don't open it to throw a diaper away. All the stench come pouring out. It's awful. Donating it and finding another pail. One that seals each diaper off.

Where to begin. I guess in order or frustration, the bags; why on earth would they not be connected to the ring, as soon as the bag reaches the end, it isn't connected there's no indicator that you're near the end of the bag, it just falls through. Leaving a dirty diaper mess everywhere. Secondly the latch for the door; it's always ripping the bag when I go to empty the genie. Lastly I've had to take the genie apart to clean the diaper mess from the bag falling through and trying to reassemble was irritating because a piece fell off. I tried reattaching it but had some trouble so I tried to find instructions or a video...nothing. Unfortunately I had bought two of these things.

Terrible! I want to return it but don't have my receipt. It stinks badly. Barely holds any diapers. We had a different model that unfortunately broke and with a second child on the way we got a new one. It's awful! Don't get this model! Bags get holes in them because of catching on stuff inside. Worst design ever.

I use the diaper genie. I like it. However I still smell the diapers! I change the carbon filter monthly and I spray with disinfecting spray every time I change the bag roll. I walk by it and I can smell stinky diapers! Any advice?

Our old diaper genie elite broke so we purchased this one. The front load system is horrible. The diaper capacity is 2 times smaller and the cutter is in a bad position. Our other system opened in half with the cutter right there and had a bigger tank. Wish we could get our money back

I recieved the new diaper genie elite to replace my older one where the cutter was getting dull. These new ones feel a lot more flimsy and the pieces did not fit together properly and left gaps in assembly. I JUST got it and am very disappointed compared to my last one. May sell this new one and keep the old one and just deal with the dull cutter.

This product is useful if quality is good. I had it broken twice in last 3 months. Very cheap quality dont buy this brand

This is the second one I have purchased and this one has been horrible it is cheaply made the and the pieces do not go together. I have had it for 5 months and regret buying it.

I am a teacher/ director at a daycare. Our diaper genie's mechanism is always coming apart. Anyone else have this issue?

I have the Diaper Genie Elite for my first born and it works great. For my second kid I bought the Diaper Genie Complete. The Elite was great and I don't know why they no longer make it. This new Complete pail is horrible if you fill it up with more than a dozen diapers. It is not easy to empty when full. The system simply does not work. The pail itself gets in the way when you try to empty it. I will not buy this again and am now looking at other brands

I have been extremely disappointed with Genie #2! The new features cut the capacity of this diaper disposal system by half! It only holds 1-2 days worth of diapers, so now I have to buy a new diaper pail with more capacity! Was this "upgraded" with new and "improved" features quality checked?!? I'm so disappointed!
