Great for spontanious "Who, what, where" games!
December 16, 2016
Number identification, guessing game (Who lives in #3?, in the house with the purple door?) giving clues about the doll. Fine motor. All around fun!

Great customer service
March 24, 2016
When I opened this toy I realized the doorbells didn't work. I called the number on the bottom, was greeted by a representative without having to go through an automated phone service, and it was so nice. She asked me how she could help me, I explained to her my problem, and she said she would send me a new one in the mail. I was off the phone in less than 5 minutes. This is the best customer service I have had when I have had issues with a product. This just adds to the many reasons on why I will continue to buy Melissa & Doug products.

I splurged on buying this for $30. Was very disappointed by keys string was too short. Keys were a weird design and very difficult to slid into the lock. I'm a 38 year female and I had hard time sliding the key into the lock. I normally love Melissa and Doug products but I'm not a fan of this item. It would be great/ fun product with few changes. Improve lock design, lengthen key holder by half inch. My son and I loved the dolls and the door bell though. Although the dolls were pushed aside super heroes were placed inside the house. The biggest issue I had was cheap locks, weird keys design, and length of key string

Cute idea if the doorbells worked
November 24, 2013
A vendor was selling Melissa and Doug products at a Christmas event that I took my twins to and my son wanted the mail box. We then saw this house and he loves to see how things work and so we thought this would be great for him to play with. The doorbells work when the house is upside down but as soon as put it right side up, stop working. Tried installing and re-installing 4 different batteries.. Wish I had bought him the mail box.

My Son Loves It!
November 5, 2013
My son was really into doorbells & keys so when I found this toy I was so excited. He still carries it with him. I like that the keys are attached so he cannot lose them. The strap that holds the keys is short so you have to move the handle for keys to reach but I like that my son had to figure that out. Love this toy!

Lovely House but plastic locks are not!
January 19, 2013
This is a really well made house that is a fantastic design. My daughter loves it! However she is very upset that the locks in the doors keep coming out when she puts the key in. The keys are metal, as is the handle on the top, and also the hinges. So why did someone decide to cheapen this product with plastic locks that have already broken several times, and are not fit for purpose? I am very dissapointed that such a well made and well thought out toy has been let down with the one part of the product that needs to be robust! I personally would have paid a couple of pounds more for brass locks that would have lasted more than the couple of days that they have done on the house we have!!

Very disappointing!
January 9, 2013
I looked all over town for this gift for a very special little girl and no one had it and I was thrilled when I finally found one online. Imagine the disappointment when this four year old put the key into door number 2 and the lock fell inside the house. She was devastated and so was I. The locks are cheap plastic and apparently something that holds the lock in place was broke off.

Good idea, poor execution
January 1, 2013
Got as a gift. It looks like a great idea. Liked the little dolls included and they fit well into each "house". But overall, all the metal parts are cheap and ill-fitting and poorly executed. It's hard to read the numbers stamped on the keys, for example, and one key didn't really fit into the "lock" at all. So, we ended up taping up the locking mechanism on most doors so that they would open without the key. The doorbell sounds are fun and the house feels solid so it's still playable, but the locks and keys are so poorly executed (e.g, the string is so short it makes it hard to fit the key into the locks) that it's better not to use them at all. Cut off the keys, throw them away, tape up the locks and enjoy the house!

Disappionting
December 27, 2012
I would say this product is a great idea, but very disappointing! My son received this gift for Christmas and it broke on the first day, almost immediately. It is cheaply made for the price and the only detail is on the outside. The inside of the toy is just plain wood.

More keys please
April 4, 2011
The key string was too short, so I had to detach the keys. The keys went in to my grandson's pocket as soon as we finished playing with the house. He was so proud to have a set of working keys that belong to him.
