I have bought this for 4 of my grandkids boy and girls. They all love "cutting" up the fruit !!

This was exactly what my just turned 3 year old wanted as she keeps asking to help me cut things when I am cooking in the kitchen. She enjoys putting it all together, cutting and serving to us and then starting again!

They were a huge hit, and so realistic, my two year grand baby had no problem identifying them.

Very well-made,wish there were a few more pieces of fruit, and a way to keep the fruit in the crate for storage. I think I will sew a little drawstring bag that should solve the problem .

Great quality - like the colors

We bought this for my son and he loved it. Left it at the cottage for a couple weeks and the orange had a couple spots that swelled out and the paint chipped off. It was never dropped or mistreated.

Our grandchildren had this set for 9 years and it looks brand new. We bought one for our newest granddaughter. She enjoyed cutting all the fruit.

My toddler loves these! I love that they are made out of wood.

This will be a huge hit! She got the cookie set, and when she figured out that you could slice things.....WOW! seriously she will play with this for over an hour (she is 2 1/2) My only request would be a place to purchase lost pieces....with young children pieces get lost so easy....like the icing on the cookies...we are missing 1 and she gets a bit upset when we can't find it when she puts them all together. SO replacement parts would be great!

My students get a great kick out of the cutting fruit set. It not only encourages imaginative play, but it is a great way to practice practical life learning as well as hand-eye coordination needed for real cutting in the future. It is a great way to subtly encourage and emphasis healthy eating too. I just bought this one for my son for Christmas. I can't wait to see him play with it!

Our almost 2yo loves this toy! He's a very busy guy, so it's nice to find something that has him sitting still for more than five minutes! : ) After he successfully slices through a piece, he lifts his arms and yells, "Yay!" We got him this for Easter, and it was *well* worth the price.

Gave this to our grandson when he turned 2 and he loved it. He has to do "cutting" as soon as he gets up in the morning and before he goes to bed at night. We decided to get this for him because mom and dad bought a mini kitchen set for him and we thought this would go great with it, we were right!

Nice toy, however the paint peeled and chipped very quickly. It looks as if I've had it for 10 years...when actually it's only been four weeks!! My son still loves it, I just have to make sure he isn't cutting his fingers on the paint chips.

My daughter received this as a gift to add to her kitchen set. She loved playing with the food and trying to master "cutting" the slices. However, after only one or two uses, most of the velcro has come off the food slices. This could cause a choking hazard for young children as well as the inconvenience of it not working anymore (not "sticking together) for cutting.

I love this. So my rating is not exactly accurate. My 2 year old loves this very much!! I bought this for my boys just two weeks ago at a local consignment shop that exclusively carries new Melissa and Doug products retail, (they are not used or second hand) To my dismay by the second day the paint was already chipping away and they looked banged up. Today, two weeks later, the fruit pieces look as if I've had them for 10 years. Bad quality, I'm hoping this was just a mistake in the painting and to either get a replacement or refund.

I have lots of Melissa and Doug food sets in my preschool. I love them and they are one of the kids favorites, but the wood and paint chips off. I thought when I bought all these sets(5), about a year ago, that they would last longer. Im looking into other brands for wood food.

My 19 month old duaghter recieved this as a gift for christmas. she and the gift givers son had a blast taking turns playing with it. ever since she got it she has not stopped playing with it.

We bought this along with the Deluxe Kitchen play center for our 2 year old daughter for Christmas 2009. She absolutely loves it. She cuts the fruit apart and bring mommy and daddy a slice. We play in her kitchen with her for hours. The fruit has helped her with colors and names of the fruits. Her hand eye coordination while cutting has improved! I love how she informs me that its "Her knife" and will not hurt her, however at the table she demands we get the butter knifes away because they are not her knife and can hurt her. She puts together that they are the same, but slightly different. It has been awonderful learning toy!

My daughter LOVES all of the Melissa & Doug wooden foods. She enjoys making dinner and new concoctions of cantekiwi and bananpear. YUM!

Imaginary food prep and restaurant play

What fun! I think I played with it for twenty minutes before I gave it to my daughter! Such a simple concept and such a neat toy. My two-year-old daughter loves to "help" me in the kitchen, but of course, can't use knives. This gives her the chance to play along. We've also been able to talk about the concept of whole and parts and the idea of fractions.
