This is a test review

Installed it in my CX-5 Mazda and it looks great. Only down fall is that the CX-5 has little space so putting the car seat I had to put the seat foward. But baby was able to move legs more and she was sitting up straighter. Where we live we have to go off roading a bit in a straight road and she slept like a baby.

We purchase this car seat for my toddler daughter, use it for the past 1 and 2 months,however after 4 wash the cover seat its ruined! Spend your money on other products! We just have to buy a car seat since Maxi Cosi doesn't sale cover seat replacement! Really Dissapointing!

TL;DR: My son no longer screams/chokes himself when we ride in the car. Love the features! Prior to this car seat my son screamed until he choked himself for most of every ride. We had an infant car seat and I borrowed a different brand convertible seat from a friend to see if a convertible seat would suit him better, but it was just as bad. I tried music, toys, windows down, sitting in the back with him...you name it, it didn't work. I decided to research and buy a convertible seat anyway because I didn't like the functionality of the infant seat. After reading hundreds of reviews, I decided to take a chance on the Maxi-Cosi because I seen other parents saying how much their child loved the seat. It's a bit pricey, but I would have tried anything to help with our car rides as each ride is 30+ minutes one-way. To my surprise, it worked! The first day in it he whined for about the last five minutes of our drive. Since then, we have taken 3 more trips with NO CRYING! I love all the features as well! I haven't had any issues with the spring-loaded straps as some reviewers seem to have. They make is so convenient for me to get my son in quickly. The material is very cool. We live in a hot climate and this was another big concern. Even at 55 degrees dressed in light clothing my son would sweat in the infant seat. It gets over 100 in the summer so that would have been a nightmare. The button to release the buckle is also so much easier to push (but still requires a little muscle) than our infant seat button. I actually couldn't get him out of the infant seat one time, fortunately my husband was home. I immediately ordered one of those little gadgets to help with the release. The magnetic chest clip is convenient, but it did take a minute to get used to it. If you press too hard it won't slide. The only improvement I can think of would be a buckle holder to keep the silver piece from falling behind the child.

This chair was on my baby shower list because I was told by the representative that it was a great chair. As a first time mom I did not know what to look for. I ended up getting this car seat and I regret it. Its hard to install and also there is no LATCH system, which i believe is very important to have. Reclining during rear facing is complicated. Its hard to get your hand in to pull and recline. It's also not an easy pull. I'm so disappointed in this chair. Big mistake.

Just got this seat for my 18 month old son. He jumped right into it while I had it on the floor going through the setup process and wouldn't get out. Very well made and solid. The kid loves it. I'm using the seat anchors and the tether, seems rock solid in the car. This is a pretty big seat and the baby sits up nice and high with good visibility. Adjustments are easily accomplished. So far we love the seat. But...one small quibble that I do have is with the cup holders. They are tiny. My kid loves the Nuby sippy cups, but they don't even come close to fitting in these holders, and they're not an oversized cup by any measure. I'm already devising a way to add a larger holder on top of the existing ones. Not a huge deal, but a bit frustrating. Still highly recommend the seat.

I bought this seat for my third child, so I am familiar with other car seat brands. This seat had the main features I wanted - a comfortable seat, easy to remove fabric with an adjustable base for easy install (my daughter has the Pria 85 and we had to use pool noodles to get the right angle for a rear facing install - with the cost of these seats, requiring any other device for install is ridiculous). We used the seat for about a year without any issues. It is impossible to get the straps tight while baby is in the seat rear facing. This is true of most carseats I've used so, I overlooked that. My current issue is that the magnetic chest clip has failed. My just turned two year old can undo the clip, and get his entire torso out of the harness (which passed the pinch test), being restrained only by the waist. He can basically accomplish this before I can even get in the driver's seat, so going anywhere is a multi-stop hassle. I contacted customer service, and they sent a new chest clip, to be delivered in 8 to 10 days. It's 2020, and this is a potentially life saving device. 8 to 10 days is completely unacceptable. I cannot believe that customer service would prioritize shipping costs over children's safety. I'm considering buying a different seat entirely, and doubt I will ever purchase a Maxi Cosi item again. I also wouldn't ever encourage a friend to purchase this seat either.

I set this seat up for my daughter who is 6 years old and she loved it. Her old car seat (Graco) was getting small for her so this seat came in very useful. We easily adjusted it to fit her and it installed easily in our midsize SUV. The seat itself is very sturdy and well-made. As a parent, my main concern is safety and this felt very secure. I would definitely recommend to my friends and family!

We love the new Magellan car seat! As a momma with a busy toddler, the ease of the straps and release function are a dream and make getting him in and out a breeze. The first time he rode in the seat he was asleep within 15 minutes, so I can assume he loves the plush fabric and extra comfort from the back and neck pillows. We recently took a five hour road trip and he was content the whole way instead of usually grumpy demeanor after being in his old seat for more than an hour. The cupholders are an added bonus and easy to remove and clean! The only con we've found is that the strap used to tighten the shoulder harness is a little difficult to get tight. We've used the seat five times, so it may be that we're still getting used to the new setup. For reference, my son is 22 months, 28 lbs and is rear-facing.

I love the build of this car seat that will grow with your child and eliminate the need to buy different seats throughout their childhood. We are currently using this seat in rear facing mode with my two and a half year old. It seems very comfortable and when installed properly the angle is fairly reclined. I like this since he does sometimes fall asleep in the car and the seat is comfortable for him to do that. The magnetic chest clip is great as it connects very quickly. The bottom buckle is somewhat difficult to latch with the belt holder in place. My other favorite feature is the zipper on the seat part. You can quickly unzip it and get to the inside of the bottom of the seat where they anchor belts are. Every other seat I've seat, you have to remove a cushion or piece to get to them or they slide through a slot and you cannot get to them easily. This unzipping feature makes this so easy. Overall I would recommend this seat for its great design and long lasting usage. I received this seat in exchange for my honest opinions.

I'll preface this with saying having four kids in car seats over the course of 7 years now, I've used quite a few brands/styles in multiple vehicles. The Magellan has by far been the most versatile to switch the seat for different kids. It took me almost no time at all to flip the seat from forward-facing for my 40lb five year old, to rear-facing with the appropriate recline for my six month old. Adjusting the seat to accommodate my rear-facing three year old was also just as quick. The height adjustments seem to allow for more fine tuning than other seats and moves more easily, without seeming to catch or snag at all. The seat itself is a little bulky, which is on par with all the other all in one seats I've used in the past. It did still fit nicely in both the second and third rows of a Honda Odyssey as well as a Yukon and Suburban. By measurements, it would've also fit in a smaller vehicle like Grandma's Honda Civic, in the middle and passenger side areas. This versatility also makes it a great option as a seat for a sitter or someone not hauling the kiddos regularly, in addition to an everyday seat for a primary vehicle. As a belt positioning booster, my seven year old said it was more "fluffy" than the other seat we use. He also enjoyed the cup holders. The Magellan did appear to have a more narrow seat but still fit him nicely, at 45 pounds. The idea of the quick clean seat area is innovative, however I do wish that the rest of the padding on the seat was as easy to remove and replace. I know my kids don't just confine messes to a single area of the seat. The fabric did hold up well to spot cleaning and didn't appear to fade at all being in the sun while installed in the van. Finally, the price point is pretty reasonable. For the versatility I expect to pay a little more, and I really feel as though the bang for the buck factor is here with the Magellan as well. Overall, I definitely reccomend this seat based on ease of use, versatility, quality of construction, and price point. This is a seat that will not disappoint.

The following is a list of things I look for and love about the Magellan XP Max. Pros: lots of removable padding to accommodate newborn and up, two cup holders that are easily removable and reattachable, clipquick magnetic chest clip really does only require one hand to detach, rear and forward facing, and a no thread harness. Unfortunately there are two other things I look for: size and a latch system. This seat does not have a latch system so you'll need to thread the seatbelt through in order to install. The seat is also extremely bulky and heavy which with one kid is probably okay but I have three children in car seats and cannot imagine having to transfer three of these in and out of vehicles. The install is easy aside from the weight and size of the seat. It easily accommodates my different sized children ages range up to 6 years old and seems great for a family with only one or two children to accommodate in a car.

Compared to the car seat we were using, this car seat is much for cushioned and more comfortable for my 2 year old. It was a little more difficult to install than our previous seat. My toddler seems to enjoy his new seat.

I was lucky enough to be able to receive and test out a free Maxi Cosi Magellan XP Max car seat from Bzzagent in return for an honest review. We absolutely love this car seat - it's really very well constructed, seems very safe and padded, and looks like it will serve us well for many years to come, as it does grow with your baby. The color is perfect and will hopefully hide spills and spit up (light and dark gray), lots of pillowed areas, and cup holders for when our baby gets bigger. It did fit in our sedan, however it is quite large. I understand why it is so big (as it supports baby until 120 pounds), but it really takes up a lot of room in our already small backseat. Obviously I'd prefer that our baby is safe than have the extra room, so I don't view this as a bad thing necessarily. It is also a little time consuming to install, but again, I understand why. Although we haven't been able to try all 7 recline positions since our baby is still so small, it really looks like it has so many good options and will work great in the future! We really love this and are so happy we got to test this car seat out. We also own the Maxi Cosi Mico Max 30 car seat and love it. We keep the car seats in separate cars and it gives us flexibility and options. Maxi Cosi seems to create a high quality product with many options. This car seat is great! I am using it for my almost 2 year old and she loves it. It is a little on the bulky side so if you have a smaller vehicle this would not be the car seat for you. It's easy to use and it seems so comfy for my little one! So excited to get a couple of years out of this!

I received this product for free in exchange for my review. It's sturdy and plentiful amount of cushion for the child. Saves space over my previous model of carseat. Cup holders are easily removable with just a twist, for easy cleaning. I found it a little more difficult to strap the carseat to my car compared to other models. Probably due to the fact that the seat is so compact, but I won't be taking it out often, so this isn't a deal breaker. Overall impressed with the quality and look of the seat, though I'm wondering how the light color will hold up with my toddler.

I really want to like this car seat, but here I am left with a $$$ car seat that we loath and we worry for our son's safety. The seat does seem to be of high quality and comfort, but it is NOT easy to use. In order to install the car seat, I had to search online to find videos as the manual is useless. I was able to get the seat installed with the latches. Once I knew how to install with the latches, it wasn't too hard but I worry about having to install with the belt. It does say so it shouldn't move more than 1", although that is rather challenging to do even with putting my full weight on the seat to synch the belt down. Once I started using the seat with my son, I have yet to feel safe with him in there. He is 30" and 21lbs so he is a good size. We are unable to easily adjust the tightness of the harness (even when undoing the top of the harness so the belt can move freely). This is the biggest safety concern for us. Even when we try and pull the harness tight, there is still a bit of play in it. Even my husband has been unable to tighten any further. I feel this is a MAJOR design flaw. The magnetic latch takes a little bit of playing with to get used to using. We do have issues with buckling the unbuckling the belt. I get that we don't want our son to be able to undo himself, but it needs to operate for parents. This is also a BIG issue when my mother was watching him. She had to wait for my father to come home to help get my son out as she couldn't undo the magnetic clip and the belt. Similarly, she had issued getting him buckled in appropriately. Because of this, I really wish I could return this car seat. The ease of use is nonexistent and I hate having a seat that is so finicky that only you can figure out how to use after watching videos and meeting with a car seat person. I do NOT recommend this car seat to anyone.

We were thrilled to try this car seat. We were unaware when we had our first how many different car seats you would need as your child grew. Our second baby received this car seat and it will grow with her! She is comfortable and happy in the seat. It was easy to wipe up messes and we love the colors.

The Maxi Cosi Magellan XP Max car seat is amazing in all ways! My baby girl is now 7 months and it fits her perfectly. It's a big car seat and she sits so comfortably in it compared to the old one we have. She currently needs to wear a helmet, but even so, she's not cramped and there's a lot of space! Whenever she's in it, she looks like she's just sitting in a comfy seat. It came in a beautiful gray color and the car seat is made with quality material. She did end up having a small leak accident while in the seat once but the padding came out easily and we were able to wash it. The car seat looks really well-built and strong, so it feels extremely safe for my daughter. I really love that it has two cup holders! I already put her bottles in them and I am sure they will come in really handy as she gets older. Overall this is a top quality car seat that is really safe and comfortable. My baby also really enjoys sitting in it too! I highly recommend this brand and car seat!

Installing this car seat was a breeze! I was shocked that I could do it without my husband and feel confident that it was safe and secure. Better yet, I only have to use one car seat for his entire infancy rather than learning how to use a new car seat when he's a toddler. I'm floored by how efficient this was to install and my baby is very happy sitting in it. It has been relatively easy to clean and wash when my baby spits up in it.

With my first child (now age 4.5 years), I didn't know much and researched the heck out of everything. I ended up with an infant car seat and then a convertible seat (which she has been in until now). When my second came, I just passed the existing car seats down. So far, it's just been the infant seat. But she's about due to move up to a convertible seat which leaves me with two options for my oldest: another convertible seat (and who knows how long that will last) OR a more long-term option. Enter the new Maxi Cost Magellan XP Max. It fits kids from 0 to 10 years of age and 5 to 120 pounds! Are you kidding me?! I don't need to buy another car seat after this one! Out of the box impression: I loved how padded and comfy looking the car seat appeared. It looked perfect for an infant (there's an infant insert) but then portions of padding were removable as the car seat changed to fit a child's needs. It was easy to adjust the height of the headrest. No moving straps but simply press a button and pull the headrest up. The straps come along with it. It also has different recline positions depending on the child's age (infant, toddler, child, etc) and the position of the car sear (rear or forward facing). Other pros: I like that seat pad can be unzipped and washed. This is something that I didn't pay much attention to with my oldest and regretted it once I saw how dirty her car seat got! This comes with a fancy one-hand magnetic chest clip. None of this "one hand pressing the button while the other hand pulls it apart." It was a little tricky to get the first couple times but now is a breeze! Cup holders included too (but larger cups/water bottles may not fit)! Cons: This seems to be a common complaint but it is not the easiest of car seats to install. I don't have a ton of car seat installation experience so I'm sure user error/experience factored in. One suggestion I saw was to find an installation video instead of reading the manual. That was helpful. I also had a hard time tightening the straps at times. This is not the slimmest of car seat designs. I have a crossover SUV and with my previous car seat set up (rear facing infant and forward facing convertible), I could sit in between the seats. With the Maxi Cosi Magellan in one of the seats, I'm not sure. It might be a tight tight fit.

The padding on this car seat second to none. My 3 yr old loves it. But we did have to strip off the easy out harness covers and all the extra buckle padding because it was both uncomfortable at the shoulders and neck for him and the buckle cover made it impossible for him to unbuckle or buckle alone. I do like the way the chest buckle attaches so my 3 yr old is getting it correct every time he buckles. I personally had a really difficult time with the recline handle and at times it wouldn't squeeze at all when I was trying to adjust the angle. Install on this Carseat is not intuitive and this is my third child. My other two are still in Carseats and high back boosters so we use car seats daily. Because it's not Intuitive to install I can't recommend as a seat to give to grandparents or another caregiver to use for my child....and honestly my husband either unless I've installed it in the vehicle. My main vehicle is a 2013 Honda Odyssey...fairly standard family van...but the auto lock feature on the belt path when installing forward facing is unusable with the curvature is the side of the seats so had to install with only the switchable retractor on my van to lock the belt. I also wasn't a fan of having to completely raise the headrest and unbuckle everything just to install. I did not try to install with the latch system for this reason as well because it's way too many steps to access and unzip things to get to the belts and install. We opted to install this seat forward facing only to test it out instead of rearfacing since my son is almost 4. Overall I'd give this seat 3 stars. It's a nice looking and comfortable seat and positions my son higher than his current seat so he can see out of the windows well. I also like the removable cup holders that can be easily washed. But difficulties with the extra bells and whistles and the difficult install bring down my rating.

We love this seat - it's extremely plush and my daughter seems comfortable in it. It also has a lot of bells and whistles that we appreciate - the zipper in the bottom to easily adjust straps, the magnetic closure for the chest buckle, and the adjustable head piece to ensure that it can grow with our child. It also has some storage built in for things like the strap covers, which our daughter is currently too small to use. It seems like they've thought of everything. Installation did take some time, but once you get the seat configured the way you need it to be and see how it works I think moving it to another car or re-installing will be much easier. The only thing I will mention is that this is a big seat and on the heavy side. I feel great about that from a safety perspective and it's also why the seat is so comfortable for my daughter, but having this car seat rear facing behind the passenger seat in my Jeep leaves my husband with minimal leg room when he's sitting in the front. This will be short lived because it won't be an issue once it's forward facing. As long as you're leaving it in your vehicle and have the space I highly recommend!! We love it!!

My first impression of this carseat was "it's a beast". Out of the box, it seems quite large and sturdy. I have a 4 year old rear facing child as she is 40 inches and 37lbs. My current carseat allows rear facing with these stats. In the Magellen she would have met the height requirements and she would have to forward face. I would like her to rear face as long as possible. So, instead I tested the seat with my 2 month old who is 13 lbs. The seat padding was quite bulky and I struggled to determine if the padding was appropriate for a good fit. The owner's manual was elusive on when the pads should be removed. With the pads on, the harness fit well, but then I would have to move the crotch buckle, which is challenging in itself but also makes for an unsafe fit. Without the pads, I couldn't get the harness to fit correctly. I would have to remove the harness covers. This is incredibly challenging to do (when I say challenging, I mean pain in the 'add your personal word here.' For these reasons I am not using the carseat at this time and did not attempt a car install. I will try again when my babe gets older and may fit the seat better and safely. There are some pretty cool features. It was very easy to recline the seat and move the head height. The seat is very comfy and my babe didn't seam seem bothered by the seat at all (she hates her bucket seat). The harness covers position the seatbelts high so it's easy to place babe in. The crotch buckle also positions out of the way. Another great feature is the chest clip. It's magnetic! I could clip and unclip easily with one hand. Overall this serms like nice seat and has a lot if neat and convenient features. At this time, though, I would not recommend it as it is a challenge to get a safe fit. There are also too many possibilities of human error as you have to remove part of the safety belt whenever you need to change positions of the crotch buckle or harness covers.

This is a great car seat booster! I recieved this product for free for review by BzzAgent. Here are some pros: 1) The fabric is lovely and soft and stylish. 2) The chest clip is easy to open and close. 3) It is easy to adjust the height using the level at the bottom and finger slides at the sides. Here are some cons: 1) It is very wide and takes up a lot of space in my sedan. 2) It is very heavy! 3) It cannot be moved in and out of the car for easy transport. If i want use it for my infant if he is sleeping, I need to take him out of the seat, which is a hassle. Overall I think this is a great product but I feel it is better utilized as a booster seat for older children rather than a first car seat for newborns or infants.

I've owned at least 5 different carseat and brands since my son was born. They all have their strengths and their weaknesses. But by far, the Maxi-Cosi Magellan XP Max car seat is the most feature packed out of all of them. This carseat is easy to install both rear and front facing, as the Latch system works great. My son finds this seat very comfortable. I like that there are multiple settings for tilt, as some seats in the car have more of an incline than others. This seat will last my son from now until he grows out of a booster seat, so I will be able to use this seat for some time. And it has fantastic features, like the magnetic clasp and the straps that don't get caught underneath him. It does take a bit to get used to some of these features, but once you do, you won't know how you lived without them. I highly recommend this seat for anyone who is looking for a feature rich seat that will last and last! I received this seat for free from Bzzagent.

This car seat although a bit large goes from infant all the way to big kid. Our use it for my three-year-old nephew currently and when he ages out of it perhaps I can use it for one of his twin brother and sister. It's beautifully made car seat very good company name and just all over very strong.

I absolutely love this carseat. Its soft and super comfortable for my newborn. He was a 35 week preemie and in the 3rd percentile for weight so I was worried he would be too small but he fits great in it at now 10 pounds. I had a safety first air seat before which I bought specifically because of the air protection around the head. I much prefer the Magellan and was very happy to see this had the air protection as well. I love how the actual carseat looks versus other brands and it keeps him cozy and safe. It was fairly easy to install. I'm excited to have this grow with him and not need to purchase another carseat the bigger he gets! I would absolutely recommend this seat to family and friends

We were in the market for a car seat that would stay with our son for years to come. We needed something that was versatile, easy to clean, and can be used in a variety of cars (my husband and I switch cars often). The Maxi Cosi Magellan XP checked off all of our boxes and exceeded our expectations. Upon opening the box, I was impressed with the amount of removable and adjustable padding. From newborn to booster seat, the car seat had removable, movable, and adjustable settings for every size! The instructions were easy to follow and I found plenty of installation videos online as well. Once I was ready to install the carseat into the car, I referenced the manual to make sure that my son's height and weight fit the proper setting. We put our 2 year old in the rear facing position using the bottom seat clips that were recommended by the manual. We then placed my son in the seat to see if we needed to adjust the straps and add/or remove padding. Within a few minutes, the straps were adjusted and we were ready to go! The easy to read levels on the side of the seat let us know that our car seat was balanced and in the proper, safest position for our son. The double cup holders have been a life saver on long rides as I use one side for snacks and the other for drinks. And as we all know, with toddlers and snacks comes messiness! No problem! The seat covering is easily removable with a few snaps and zippers. I spot cleaned using laundry detergent and warm water and we were ready to go again! My son is happy, safe, and comfortable and we are thrilled to have the Maxi Cosi Magellan XP in our car for years to come. I recommend this car seat for anyone who is in the market for a safe, easy to use carseat from any age from newborn to older child.
