Looking Forward to 10 Years of Car Rides!
June 10, 2019
Thanks to the weeSpring Parent Panel for providing me with the Maxi Cosi Magellan 5-in-1 Convertible Car Seat. My favorite part about the car seat is that my 1- year old son LOVES getting into it! We had a different one prior to receiving the Magellan and he would kick and scream before we could lock him in. I was very excited that it was advertised as "easy to install" as I've spent so much time installing car seats in my car and families cars. I was slightly disappointed that it wasn't as easy as advertised. There is a learning curve and definitely helps to read the manual. The manual is clear and easy to understand. After reading the manual it was easy to adjust and customize the position of the seat. The fabric is airy and breathable which I'm thrilled about since summer is almost here. On our first day using the seat my son spilled a green pea pouch and it was very easy to wipe down and clean. You wouldn't even know it was ever dirty. The one downside of the car seat is that it doesn't have a handle to carry it and is pretty heavy (as are most convertible carseats). We use our car for work a lot and need to take it in and out. If you don't need to remove the seat then it shouldn't be an issue for you. More importantly, I feel that my son is safe in the car seat and I'm pretty intrigued that he can use it for the next 10 years!!! (Definitely refer back to the manual when to change the seating).

Absolutely love this car seat!
June 10, 2019
I would like to thank WeeSpring Parent Panel for sending me this awesome car seat the Maxi Cosi Magellan 5-in-1 Convertible Car Seat! We had another set of car seats, both infant and convertibles since having our first boy almost 4 years ago. We actually had a car seat we purchased in advance when we had our second boy 8 months ago and I am now going to trade that in for a second Maxi Cosi Magellan 5-in-1 Convertible Car Seat. The design itself looks so much more comfortable for my toddler. Since he cut his naps during the day, he pretty much falls asleep 5 seconds into any car ride. With the Maxi Cosi Magellan 5-in-1 Convertible Car Seat, when he falls asleep, his head stays put and doesn't dip down like it used to with the other seat. We were able to install it pretty easily, and the straps are pretty easy to adjust as well. I only have one minor complaint about the car seat which is that it can be a little annoying to try and click in the bottom seatbelt portion because sometimes i get the padding stuck in between the buckle which makes it a little annoying but that would be my only issue. We haven't had a need to wash the seat yet so I haven't fully removed the fabric but I did remove the bottom portion when I was adjusting the straps and bottom buckle which was fairly easy, I was able to do it with no effort so that was a plus! I genuinely could not be more happy with this car seat. Like I said earlier, our 8 month old is about to transition to a convertible from his infant car seat soon and I am getting him the Maxi Cosi Magellan 5-in-1 Convertible Car Seat also. Love love love this car seat!!!

Nice features, but frustrating to install
June 10, 2019
I was very excited to receive a Magellan® 5-in-1 Convertible Car Seat from the weeSpring Parent Panel. My daughter is 15 months and has outgrown her infant car seat. We purchased one convertible car seat, but needed a second for my husband's car. When the seat arrived, I was excited to unbox it and let my daughter sit in it. She climbed in and seemed to enjoy her "big girl seat." The fabric is soft and the seat has plenty of comfy padding. The easily adjustable headrest is also nice, and I love the neutral black and dark grey color. Plus, it has TWO cup holders - an especially exciting feature since our other seat has none. The first day my husband and I were home together, we headed out to the car during her nap to install the seat. Armed with the instruction book, we followed the step-by-step instructions. However, we both ended up sweaty and frustrated. Needless to say, we did not find this seat easy to install as noted in the features, and the manual was a bit confusing. I was also excited about the number of recline settings this seat had - my daughter likes to sit up as straight as she can. However, we had a lot of trouble keeping the recline within the safe rear-facing range. It would start out correct, but by the time we had it strapped in tightly, the recline bubble would move out of the safe zone and we had to start over - multiple times. In the end, the seat ended up very reclined - much more than my daughter prefers - and we had to put a rolled towel under the front. However, it was the only way we could get the seat tight and keep it within the safe range. We also had a lot of trouble getting the seat cinched in tight enough. I am still a bit concerned that it seems to wobble more than our other seat. Overall, this is a nice seat with great amenities and features. However, the instillation was disappointingly difficult and frustrating. We will definitely continue using this seat, but I will do everything in my power not to reinstall it!

A Durable, Long-Lasting Car Seat!
June 10, 2019
I absolutely love this car seat! We received this car seat from weeSpring Parent Panel in exchange for an honest review. My favorite feature of the car seat is its longevity - it's going to last for YEARS! My 8-month-old daughter fits so well in it and there's still room for her to grow! The installation of the seat was pretty easy. The instructions were very straight forward and easy to follow. The car seat itself had instructions directly on it for correct positioning in the car. The only cons were that it's a pretty heavy car seat and it was a little difficult taking of the fabric to run the seatbelt through. At least I know that it's sturdy! The fabric of the car seat is so nice! My daughter is so comfortable in it and always falls asleep almost the second we put her in. I love the slots on the side that hold that buckle so it's easier to place her in and not have to dig behind her to find the harness. I'm excited to use this seat for years to come!

Comfortable seat with TWO cup holders!
June 10, 2019
My current convertible car seat was getting close to expiring. I had used it for two kids and was pleased with it for the most part. However, when I received the Maxi Cosi Magellan 5-in-1 convertible car seat through the weeSpring Parent Panel, I was so grateful to try something new! Sometimes it is easy to get stuck in a rut when something is working but not stellar. My favorite aspect of the Magellan is how high it sits up. My child can see a lot easier out of the window. The fabric is very soft too. I wish I was the one in the car seat taking a nap! I also love the TWO cup holders integrated into the car seat. My previous car seat had a cup holder but it was an after thought that just clipped on to the outside of the seat. The Magellan has two cup holders that are flexible/rubber like that are easier for my two year old to manage his cup. Then he has a place to put his paci in the other cup holder when he's drinking and doesn't lose it deep in the seat. The cup holders also are short. I appreciate that because when I have a sippy cup with handles it actually fits in the holder unlike any of my previous car seats. The car seat itself was reasonably easy to install. The two hardest things were finding out where the LATCH straps/anchors were hidden (under the padding of the car seat) and changing the crotch strap. I don't know if I was doing it wrong or what but that was the hardest crotch strap I have ever adjusted. It was annoying at the time but now that it is set I don't even think about it. I think about the things that I use on a daily basis- the cup holders! Also, since the time I've installed the car seat (a few months) I don't think I have had any twisted straps. That is amazing. My other car seat straps get tangled constantly. I'm excited for the possibilities for the car seat in the future. I have very tall children and the fact that this car seat has a great headrest adjust function is very exciting!

Great carseat to grow with!
June 10, 2019
I received this convertible car seat as part of the WeeSpring Parent Panel, and am super pleased with its safety, functionality, and comfort! Installation wasn't exactly a breeze, but took under 15 minutes total to get it into the car and then adjusted properly (rear facing). The most difficult part for us was getting it tight so it had minimal give, but that could have been because we have seat protectors that add a little slide. All that being said, it is definitely not too much of a drag to install, but I probably would think twice before taking it out and moving it. Once installed, there's no question as far as security and safety - this thing is sturdy!! The safety and security features don't interfere with comfort! One of my very favorite things about this car seat is that the cushioning is extra super plush, but it doesn't cause overheating! For us, this is HUGE! My kids are constantly overheating, and seeing the big comfy padding and cushy (black!) fabric made me nervous, but my LO has not overheated once! He's super comfy and well buckled in by the (relatively standard and unremarkable) 5 point harness, but also stays cool. The cover is also pretty easy to remove and launder, and holds up nicely to being washed and line dried. My single gripe with the seat is that the sides are so high on both sides when adjusted for my son that he has to sit up and crane his neck to see outside or see his sister next to him. Because of the bulkiness of this car seat, it is extremely difficult for him to see the world around him - being rear facing, he basically just sees a seat back. Despite this drawback, he's pretty happy In the seat both when he's awake and asleep. So far it really seems remarkably durable and I have high hopes for its longevity, because since it converts all the way to the older kid booster, I hope it'll continue to be as safe, sturdy and comfortable as it grows with him! I love it, he loves it, and I definitely recommend it!

Some Usable Features
June 10, 2019
I was excited to receive the Maxi Cosi Magellan 5-in-1 Convertible Car Seat. The look is sleek and fabric feels awesome. Some of the features were great, and others didn't work for me. 1. The easily removable cover is NOT "easily" removed or replaced if the car seat is in the rear facing position. I get that if you use this car seat for the entire time you could it would be forward facing for longer, but my 18 month old is messy and having to re-latch the car seat every time I take off the cover is irritating. 2. I can use it the entire time my kid is in a car seat. I'm really looking for to using this in the forward facing configuration. I test fit it, and it was much easier to install/secure and adjust when in the forward facing position. It also fit into my 2016 Durango better that way. 3. Installation for rear facing was frustrating. I struggled with both the latch and seat belt method and being confident that it was tight enough. It also isn't a comfortable angle for my son when the level is all lined up, but this is probably because of my car 4. Straps. I strongly dislike the straps. The one side of the chest buckle is sooo long and awkward to pull around my kid. The tiny slots for to "secure" the straps when the child isn't in the car seat do nothing. As soon as I lift my son into the seat at least one of them falls out and gets stuck under his butt. Unlike the Magellan Max, the straps aren't spring loaded, and are pretty much always stuck under my child until I pull them forward to buckle. Final thoughts - If I were to buy this product for myself, I would be disappointed. I like the features of the Magellan Max better, but I don't like the price for either. I received this product for free as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel.

Great features but hot kids
June 10, 2019
Let me start out by saying that I have two kids, one 4 1/2 (child 1) and the other 1 1/2 (child 2), so I was able to test it out on both kids at different ages/stages. Overall first impressions: The car seat is well made The fabric looked and felt nice The car seat was heavy Great features and very customizeable Child 1 (4 1/2) Pros: My oldest is very tall for his age so finding a car seat that will work for him and GROW with him was a big plus for us! I was able to figure out how to convert it to the different settings easily and setting it up properly to fit my child was a breeze. I will say I did read the manual and would suggest others to do the same to ensure proper fit and installation. My Child thought it was extremely comfortable and spacious. Cons: My oldest is a heater and the fabric claims to keep the kids cool. However for us it was the complete opposite, he was drenched in sweat compared to his other car seat. I thought the car seat was pretty heavy. This made installing it into my car a bit cumbersome. Child 2 (1 1/2) Pros: Similar to above: I was able to figure out how to convert it to the different settings easily and setting it up properly to fit my child was a breeze. I will say I did read the manual and would suggest others to do the same to ensure proper fit and installation. My 1 1/2 year old is rear facing and seemed to feel comfortable in the seat. He had plenty of leg room still, however, my youngest is a bit short for his age. Cons: My cons are exactly the same for the second child as is with the first. Overall I think the car seat has many great features and would be a great car seat for anyone looking into a car seat that will grow with the child. I received the Maxi Cosi Magellan 5-in-1 Convertible Car seat from WeeSpring parent panel for my honest review.

Versatile, Quality Car Seat That Will Grow With Your Child
June 9, 2019
We received the Maxi-Cosi Magellan 5-in-1 convertible car seat via the Weespring parent panel. Out of the box, it required no assembly and was ready to use and could be adjusted for any size child, from an infant to 120 pounds, or up to 10-years old! It was easy to figure out how to adjust the car seat for various size children, and the color-coded position indicators are helpful to ensure that the seat is safely positioned. We are first-time parents, so were not at all familiar with car seat installation. The instruction manual left much to be desired, and could definitely be improved. Fortunately, we were provided a demonstration, so now, it is very easy to install. There were also multiple videos found easily online that were helpful. You must remove the cushion and base in order to access the straps. Once installed, the car seat is very snug and doesn't move around at all (we're using it rear-facing since we have an infant). We were able to install it into our newer car with click in attachments as well as into our older vehicle using the seat belt. I feel like my child Is very secure when he is strapped in. We also like that it has removable cup holders and a washable cover for easy clean up. One downside is that the seat is pretty bulky and doesn't as fit well into our compact car, but it works well in our SUV and would likely fit well into any full size back seat. However, due to its size and weight, it would likely be better left in one vehicle rather than moved back and forth. You can tell this is a quality product as soon as you take it out of the box. It seems to be very well constructed. I am a fan of long-lasting, quality products, and it appears that this car seat will live up to its promise as the only car seat we will need for our child until he is 10 years old. So far, I would recommend buying the Maxi-Cosi Magellan 5-in-1 seat and letting it grow with your child. You won't be disappointed and it will be a real comfort to both your baby

Great car seat
June 9, 2019
The Max Cosi Magellan 5-in-1 car seat has been fantastic. It is very easy to install. The manual is the simplest manual to follow...especially compared to other car seat brands. My Dad borrowed this car seat for babysitting duties and was able to set it up without even looking at the manual. Setting up the specifications of the seat was simple and took only a few minutes. My little one is comfortable in the seat with lots of leg room while rear facing. The fabric is smooth and not too hot in the Summer. The cup holders are pretty small, only certain sippy cups fit which is a bummer. BUT, the holders are removable for easy cleaning...why aren't all cup holders removable?? I love that it is a one handed tip to recline the seat when needed. One thing I dislike about this car seat is that me being short and having a tall car makes it challenging to get baby in the seat; the edges of the seat are steeper than our previous car seat so I'm always bumping my little one on the edge. The chest harness is also challenging to unclasp - you need to use two hands. Otherwise, I'm happy with how this seat looks, feels, and protects my baby. Special thanks to the weeSpring Parent Panel for providing me with this product!

Overall a Great Seat
June 9, 2019
My favorite features of this car seat include it's ability to grow with my child until she's out of a car seat/booster, I love the cup holders and that they're easy to remove and wash (toddlers can be gross), and of course the safety I feel it provides my daughter. It was simple enough to install and adjusting it to fit her needs was easy! My daughter is 1.5 so she's still rear facing and I love that it is the only seat she will ever need. The fabric is very thick and cushiony, it seems to be easy to clean and while I have not yet taken it off, I plan to and it appears to be very easy to remove as well. I am not afraid to take the cover off like have been on other seats we have owned. Installing the seat did require me to read the directions to make sure I was doing it properly, but that's what I always do when installing a new seat. While this seat seemed super bulky, I was actually able to install two other seats in the same row in my SUV. I do however have to keep this seat behind the front passenger seat in my SUV, because rear facing it takes up so much space front to back. But I feel that this is a problem with every rear facing seat we have owned in our 6.5 years of parenting 3 girls so I'm not complaining about that, just seems standard for rear facing seats. I received this product through the weeSpring Parent Panel.

This is what happens when parents are part of the design pro
June 9, 2019
This car seat is it. Now, all car seats have to comply with safety guidelines so when you are picking a seat you need to pick it based off of two things; 1- how easy is this seat to install? and 2-what's in it for me? The installation is important because the car seat is tested based on being installed correctly which most aren't. The number two is what makes this car seat different in a good way. First of all this car seat is super easy to install. The clips for the LATCH system are easy to get in and out for any changes you need to make and the overall installation is pretty simple. I will say that you should watch the YouTube video along with reading the manual because the video has some tips on making the tightening of the straps much easier. I installed this and took it to be inspected and passed with flying colors! So easy to install gets a big check mark from me. Now to #2 and this is where the seat shines. First of all this seat is the ONLY car seat you need to buy. It can carry you from brand-new newborn to toddlerhood. The seat cover comes out easily for super easy cleaning. Everything from spit-up to cereal to doll accessories; you can pop this seat cover off quickly and clean the cover and the seat itself easily. There are these handy little buckle holders on the sides that hold the buckle in place and out of the way for you to put your little one in or take them out. And the cup holders! The cup holders! Why some manufacturers decided these were optional is beyond me. These are bottle holders, cup holders, snack holders, toy holders, etc. so they are an absolute must in a seat. The cup holders in this seat are incorporated into the design and easy to remove. The size is also great. We have two kids in a sedan and while it is a cozy fit, it fits well. The seat has a lot of space for the child but doesn't seen to take up much space in the vehicle. Overall I love this car seat. It was hard tightening down the straps, but like I

Thanks to the weeSpring Parent Panel for providing me with this product. I tried the Maxi Cosi Magellan 5-in-1 Convertible Car Seat with both my 4yo and my 1yo. I liked that I could use the same seat for both of my kids - I was able to try it out in both forward-facing and rear-facing modes. I liked that it seemed super comfortable for my kiddos. When installing the seat so it was forward-facing, the LATCH straps were not long enough to use in my Honda Accord, so we had to install it using the seatbelt, which is not my preference. The seat does not feel as secure in my vehicle using the seatbelt and not the LATCH system. Also, moving the LATCH straps to move the seat from rear-facing to forward-facing was more complicated than it needed to be. I found the straps to be "slippery" - I had a hard time keeping them from getting twisted within the buckles, which is frustrating when you're wrestling a squirmy kid into the seat. This seat is also LARGE. If you have a tall driver, you'll likely need to install this seat on the passenger side, especially if you're using the seat in the rear-facing mode. I would recommend this to a friend who is specifically looking to purchase a seat that will grow with their child. My 4-year-old did NOT like the seat at all, but he fell into the size range where he needs the forward-facing harness, instead of the high-back booster, which is what he was in before trying the Magellan. He was not a fan of going back to a harness buckle. That said, I think if this were the only seat he had known, he would be much more likely to love it. We will continue to use the seat, but as a secondary seat for our younger son. That way he'll grow with the seat and won't know any different.

Good quality car seat, but priced too high
June 9, 2019
I received this car seat from the WeeSpring Parent Panel. I had trouble installing this car seat initially. I was not able to install it in the center of the back seat and even behind the driver seat, I could not get it tight enough using the seat belt. With help from my husband, the latch method worked much better and was appropriately tightened. I still find it difficult to recline to different positions and I rarely use the buckle holders, but they are nice in theory. I sometimes find it hard to tighten the harness because the chest buckle gets stuck on the harness pads, but maybe there is a learning curve. In the first week, I had the pleasure of removing and washing all the pads thanks to a barfing incident. It was not difficult to remove and put them back on, but fast and easy would be a stretch. The pads did wash nicely and dried well in the dryer. It does seem wider than other convertible car seats I have used, but the padding is nice and aside from the harness pads, I love that there is minimal velcro that can easily be undone by my mischievous child. All in all, this car seat works, but I would be hard pressed to purchase it at this price point given the availability of a lot of other great/safe options for much cheaper.

Luxury + Versatility = Magellan 5-in-1 Convertible car seat
June 9, 2019
I received the Magellan® 5-in-1 Convertible Car Seat as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel at the perfect time. I have a toddler around 20 months old and am expecting my second child in another month. Before I purchase any baby gear I review the safety features and am more than satisfied. One thing I love about this car seat is the versatility. It is suitable for newborns up until 120 pounds. I have been using it for my toddler since receiving it. I will start by saying am awful at assembly and installation, so I essentially just watched my husband do this. He is pretty handy and has installed all of our car seats and he did need the directions to get this done but with minimal complaints. I think youtube videos work better than the manual, but installation seems on-par with other convertible car seats. Another thing I love, and this may sound trivial, but TWO cup holders! One for a snack or toy and one for a drink. Not sure why all car seats don't have this. I will say these cup holders are too small for some of the water bottles we have, so I do wish they were a little bigger, but I'll take it. The seat looks very sleek, comfortable and fabric is soft and luxurious. Best of all, the fabric cover is durable enough to be machine-washable and easy to remove. I really don't have many negatives to point out when it comes to this car seat. The only thing is the harness can be difficult to tighten at times. Overall, I would definitely recommend this seat after trying it with my 20 month old daughter (and soon to try with my newest addition arriving next month).

Nice, comfortable car seat
June 9, 2019
We have loved having the maxi Magellan 5 in 1 convertible car seat! I love how soft and plush the material is on the seat. We wanted to try another car seat because my one year old started screaming every time we put him in a car seat after we took a road trip over the holidays (it was torture). He doesn't cry as much getting into this seat which may suggest the seat is more comfortable than most. The material seems very durable. While we have not had to clean it, I've wiped it down a few times and it does seem easy to clean. A few draw backs for us: It is challenging to adjust the straps. There is a mechanism that's hidden under the seat cover that you must pull in order to adjust loosen the straps. I would suggest doing this before you put the child in the car seat. Once you get the hang of it, it's actually easy. And I think it may be "safer" since it is more challenging to loosen I have to imagine that it will not loosen during an accident. It's also a bit more difficult to install it in the car than the other car seat we have. It only has the hooks that attach to your car for rear facing. If you want to go front facing you have to use the seat belt. Usually there is a weight limit to the car hooks so I assume that is why they want to use the seat belts- but I have very skinny/light children and feel the hooks are more secure. I'm sure that this is a safety feature- so not necessarily a draw back but certainly something to be aware of. We received this car seat as part of the weespring parent panel!

Very soft and comfortable
June 8, 2019
The Maxi Cosi Magellan 5-in-1 Convertible Car Seat is great. I love that it is a long lasting car seat and that it grows with my child. My favorite feature is the how expandable it is. It can rear face it and front face it. I like the adjustable seat to customize the position of the seat to have my baby lay in it to my toddler sitting up. I really like that the fabric of the seat was very soft and comfortable and it had protection on all sides. It had padding on all sides for protection. It was easy to install into my vehicle without having it move. I felt my child was safe in this car seat. It is a little bulky but all worth it. I recieved this product for free to test through the weespring parent panel. This review is my own.

Sleek design that feels quite safe
June 8, 2019
As a two-car family with only one car seat, we were really excited to receive this Maxi-Cosi car seat from the weeSpring Parent Panel to try out and review. Straight out of the box this car seat is sleek and impressive in design. It has lovely curves and the fabric feels high-quality and soft to the touch. The cushioning all around is impressive; I found myself wishing the driver's seat in my car was made of the same materials! This car seat, being designed for such a wide range of weights and heights, has many adjustable and removable positioning options, which is great. Installation was simple and straight-forward enough and only took maybe 10 minutes to finish installation and decide which settings were best for our child. Once we got our child into the seat we discovered the straps are prone to twist. They aren't difficult to get righted again, but it's a slight annoyance to have to fix them every time. I don't think this is user error because we don't have any similar issues with our other car seat. After multiple trips in and out of the seat, this issue remains a consistent annoyance. My favorite feature, other than the classy design overall, is the padding that slides down over the chest buckle. It just seems she is more comfortable with that cushion there on her chest and the chance of any pinching of her fingers or clothes is reduced. Overall, I feel this is a safe car seat and the many adjustable positions can make this a good seat for years. The twisting strap issue is irritating, but not so much so that we would stop using this seat and purchase a different one.

A+++ rating

We are so happy we received this car seat from the Weespring parent panel. We have currently been through about all in one a car seats and this is the best one so far and our keeper! My 22 month old is on the smaller side(she's still in 12 month clothing) so car seat safety is very important to me. We loved many things about this seat. Most other car seats that aren't an infant carrier tend to swallow her, whereas this seat keep her nice and snug. The padding and cover is removable and washable which is a total plus for this on the go mom. I don't have to get the small brushes out to scrub every nook when something spills. The removable cup holders are also a major plus. My husband also loved how easy it was to install into the car versus other seats. There were a few downsides about this particular seat. It's wider than our previous car seat which is a big deal when you have 2 car seats to fit in a full size car. As comfy and washable as the seat cover is, it's also thick and my only concern is the summer heat making my daughter get too hot. Overall this is a great seat and one that will last through all the stages of childhood car safety!

We love our Maxi Cosi Magellan 5-in-1 Convertible Car Seat!
June 8, 2019
We love our Maxi Cosi Magellan 5-in-1 Convertible Car Seat. We use this seat primarily for our 18 month old son, but we have also used it for our three year old. It is pretty easy to adjust the recline and headrest height for their different sizes. I love that it will grow with my sons. Pros - This seat was easier to install than I expected. Because we have had to transfer it between vehicles multiple times, I have used both the LATCH anchors and the vehicle seat belt to install the seat, and both were as easy to do as on any other seat we've had. Of all the car seats we have had, this one is the easiest to adjust for tightening and loosening the straps which makes it a much quicker, smoother transition when loading in an active toddler. This car seat seems well-made and safe. My child is secure in the seat while also seeming very comfortable. Because my children are older, I did not need to use the infant inserts, but I can see how they would provide a good amount of cushioning for an infant. I love that harness and buckle covers are included for comfort yet easily removable and washable. The cup holders are accessible and able to be removed and washed in the dishwasher, yet they are not so easy to remove that my child can take them out without my help. They are deep enough to hold his cup securely and also work great as snack bowls. Cons -The main drawback on this seat is its size - it definitely would not fit rear-facing in a small sedan. One would need to consider the size of their vehicle when purchasing this seat. The cup holders are rather small. This is something to consider on trips when packing cups for car rides. This would not be an ideal primary infant car seat since it is not made to carry and click in and out of the car or stroller. Thank you to the weeSpring Parent Panel for giving me this Convertible Car Seat to try. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to purchase a safe, comfortable, long-lasting seat.

Super Comfortable and Safe Seat
June 8, 2019
My four year old loves this seat and he is always bragging about his new seat. As for me, I like this seat a lot but there are a few things that could be improved. My favorite thing about this seat is its ability to be the only car seat that you will need. I yearn to be a minimalist and having an all in one seat is fabulous. I also really love this fabric. I think that it feels so great and cool even though it is dark in color. Although we haven't taken the cover off, I love that it is machine washable. I believe that all children's products should be machine washable. The safety features are very important and wonderful with this seat. The AirProtect cushioning makes me feel that my son is protected all around. I also think that its versatility in adjusting the seat makes it extremely safe since it can be customized as my son grows. It was really easy to adjust and get it perfect for his size. The only problem with adjusting the set was that some of the indicators on the sides of the seat didn't line up so on one side of the seat it would be on booster mode while the other side would indicate forward facing, but we figured it out. I thought this seat was easy to install once we figured out the built in belt lock offs. We didn't try the LATCH system since my son is older. We have moved this seat from car to car easily and quickly. Although there are a lot of things I like about this seat, I gave it four stars for a few things. The first is the cupholders, which I love, but they are too small for many of my son's water bottles. I also gave it four starts because the buckle between the legs gets easily stuck under my son's bottom when he gets in. The straps and buckles get twisted very easily which can be frustrating. Although there are some things that could be improved, this seat is pretty great overall and I would recommend this seat to others. Thanks to weeSpring parent panel for providing me with this convertible car seat.

Game Changer= Maxi Cosi Magellan
June 7, 2019
I received this car seat to try as a part of the weeSpring Parent Panel. I have a 5 month old baby and a two year old, both of who could benefit from the seat as it accommodates a child from 5lbs to 120lbs. Both of my children are on the bigger end of the growth charts so I am always concerned first about safety then about comfort for them because of their sizes and ease of use for myself as far as setting up the seat and getting them in and out. Upon installing the seat in the car, I managed to do it without consulting with the manual, but it proved to be a tad more difficult than other car seats I have installed. However, because I used different configurations to utilize it for both children, the more I installed and uninstalled, the easier it became. My absolute favorite feature of the car seat was how plush, comfy, and sleek it was. When I put my 5 month old in the seat to adjust it before installing it, she immediately gave me the cutest smile(she obviously approved), and my two year old was quite impressed as well. The fabric seemed to be well made and did not seem to hold heat, which is a plus in these HOT southern summers. I have yet to remove the cover to wash and see how the fabric holds up to a wash. I was extremely impressed with the safety features of the car seat. All seats have to meet minimum requirements, but this seat gave me extra peace of mind due to the extra safety features it included. As I mentioned, I used the seat for both children, which required two completely different set ups, so to be able to tailor, with ease, the seat features such as the headrest, torso(cool option to have as I have never had a seat that has given me this option) and recline for each child was great. Overall this is a really great seat with only a couple of cons, which are that installation could be a bit easier and that the seat is heavier and bulkier than any convertible I have ever used with the exception of one. Despite these things, the seat is worth it!

Plush seat with lots of options
June 7, 2019
I feel like once I get used to something, my little boy grows out of needing it. I was finally getting the hang of his last car seat when - POOF- he grew and it was time to think about larger car seats. I was sent the Maxi Cosi 5-in-1 convertible seat as part of the weeSpring parent panel and it was perfect timing! This seat is PLUSH. Every surface is, well, cozy! My immediate thought was that it will be the most comfy seat for my son and he appears to like it. installation wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. My car has the hooks for the clips, but the clips weren't looped through correctly. The manual was a huge help and I figured it out. Because this seat has so many options, it took a little bit to set it up for my son's size. The instructions combined with the labels on the sides helped a lot with set up. But forget appearances, what matters is safety. I like the chest clip design, but this seat is very difficult to fully tighten. And forget about trying to tighten it with the shoulder pads on. That's not happening. You really have to really pull to get it snug. And when it's time to get my son out, the clip to loosen the straps is hidden under a flap of fabric. It makes the seat look fancier, but it makes it a little more difficult to loosen, especially when my son is antsy to get out of the car. When he is in the seat and buckled snugly, I feel like he is very safe. As for the exterior, the all-black fabric combined with the plush cushions makes this seat WARM on sunny days. Something to think about when choosing colors. I haven't washed the cover yet but spot cleaning has been easy. I love that this seat will grow with my son. I hate throwing things out and, as I mentioned, he grows out of things so quickly! The fact that this seat has so many options for my growing boy is a huge plus.

Great for a one-car family
June 7, 2019
I was given this car seat to try as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel. It came at the perfect time because my 10 month old had almost outgrown her infant car seat. I was pleasantly surprised by this carseat as it is not one I would have picked out myself. The safety rating speaks for itself and if I were to bring home another newborn I would choose this seat. The inserts for a newborn are amazing and soft. It is not hard to adjust the seat from newborn to a larger infant. Installation both in and out of our vehicle was quick and intuitive. For me the downside of this carseat is the bulk and weight. No matter where we put the seat, the front passenger cannot lean back or adjust their seat much (Prius and small SUV). We are a two car family and often switch vehicles during the week. This seat is too heavy to move back and forth regularly. The price tag makes me hesitant to buy a second. My child is comfortable and safe in this carseat but it is a better choice for a one -car family. I would recommend this to a friend looking at carseat options.

Luxurious and dependable car seat
June 7, 2019
With our daughter, we started out with an infant car seat that came with our travel system and switched to a different brand Convertible car seat once she was older. We definitely enjoyed our other convertible car seat so were eager to see how the Maxi Cosi measured up in comparison. At first look, we were super impressed with the luxurious fabric and very sleek style (the look and feel of this car seat are definitely my favorite features!). We used this Car Seat in my husband's vehicle and used it on a 6 day vacation which required us to totally un-install and re-install the seat from the vehicle, multiple times. This process was super easy and re-adjusting the seat to fit my daughter's needs so that she had the safest and comfiest ride was no big deal. Our biggest complaint with this seat is how difficult it was to remove and re-apply the cushions/fabric on the seat. Our daughter got sick while riding in the car so we had to take all of the cushions off, wash and put back on. This seemed harder than our experiences with our other convertible car seat. That being said, the fabric is definitely nicer on this one and cleaned up perfectly. One issue we had is that the cup holders are not very wide and our daughter has a hard time getting her cups and/or snack containers in and out of the rubbery cup holders. The only other issue we had was figuring out how to loosen the straps to get our daughter out of the seat - this part is not the most intuitive. We have our second child on the way now and fully intend on continuing to use this car seat as I feel that it is definitely safe and comfortable for our child. Overall, I would recommend this product to another parent, especially if they want something that looks a little more modern. Thanks to weeSpring Parent Panel for sending me this Convertible Car Seat to try out in exchange for my honest review!

Good "Luxury" Seat, With Some Room for Improvement
June 7, 2019
We've used this seat for a solid two months now, so this review includes my observations so far. At first glance, the seat seemed bulky, but not more than other similar seats. The quality of the fabric is good. It's soft to the touch, the pads are soft, and the cover seems easy to remove for cleaning if needed. I personally like the neural gray/black colors. The installation was a bit more complicated than I hoped it would be. The LATCH clips are hidden, so it took some finagling to find them. Because my oldest--a tall four-year-old--is primarily using this seat, we decided to use the seatbelt straps to install it as per the suggestion in the manual. It's relatively snug once installed; I always wish it felt tighter, but I do have leather seats and find that all seats slide a little bit as a result. I did find that the seat buckles and straps are easy to clip in, but tightening them for a snug fit does take some effort. However, in poking around for suggestions, I learned that tightening it prior to buckling the chest clips helps. My one "feature" gripe is the cup holders. I love that there are two and that they can be removed; however, they run small and don't fit most of our daughter's water bottles. It's not a huge issue, as they are somewhat flexible to fit at least the bottom of the bottle, but I wish they were wider. Either way, my oldest daughter likes the seat, and says it is very comfortable. I personally like that you can have it sitting straight up or tilt it back a bit while using it front facing. All in all, this is a good seat. My favorite feature is that the seat grows with the child, so I hope to use it for a while assuming it holds up. I would recommend the Maxi-Cosi Magellan 5-in-1 convertible car seat. Thank you to weeSpring Parent Panel for sending me this car seat to try and review.

Safe, Secure, Amazing
June 6, 2019
Holy wow - the Maxi Cosi Magellan is unlike any other car seat I've ever seen or had. I was given this Convertible Car Seat to try as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel. When it first arrived the box nearly took up my entire porch and I thought someone had delivered a dishwasher or something - it was huge! I dove right in, took everything out of the box and began reading the instruction manuals that came with the car seat. I had both of my kids (2.5 years old and 3 months at the time) sit in the seat so I could try to adjust it to their size. However, the instruction manual is extremely confusing and I could not get past a certain step. I ended up finding a video online of how to adjust the seat and then everything went smoothly from there. The instruction manual needs some revamping but that's my only gripe. It may be useful to include a small disc that has a setup and installation guide for those of us that have never dealt with a car seat this complex. I was surprised how easy it was to adjust the car seat to fit her little body. One of my favorite parts of the Maxi Cosi Magellan was the padding in all the right places. There is padding that goes around the bottom buckle so it will never dig into little legs. There's also padding where the buckles snap together that are worn near the chest so the plastic does not come in contact with baby. I really liked the attention to detail there. Pros: Safe!, comfort - padding is great, fabric is cool to the touch and does not heat up in the sun, grows with baby from birth until they're ready to ride solo, easy to adjust and take apart for washing. Cons: Size - this seat is very large and heavy - smaller cars may have space issues and traveling with this through an airport would be a workout!, Not ideal for infants that fall asleep in the car often because you have to wake them up to put them in a stroller, etc., instruction manual needs some work! Overall I'm in love with this car seat and I'm so glad I have it now

IN LOVE
June 6, 2019
I am in LOVE with this car seat! It looks so classy in all black, the material is soft but cleans up great, the cup holders easily pop off and are dishwasher safe, and it is SO easy to manipulate and adjust! I actually gave my 14month old an ice cream cone while riding in it and all the mess easily wiped clean with a baby wipe when we got her out. I love that although the material is black it doesn't get smoldering hot like every other black car seat we've had. The only thing I can think of that could be improved upon would be to make the cup holders a wee bit bigger as their a bit too skinny for some of our wider supply cups. My favorite features are how comfy it is for my daughter, safe and built to last! It's super easy to take the cover off the car seat to clean it as well. Although I intend to use this solely for my 1 year old, I also tried it on my 5 year old who is 55lbs out of curiosity- adjusting it was a breeze and he said it was super comfy (he was pretty bummed it was for his sister and didn't want to get out of it)! We received this car seat as part of the wee spring parent panel and it is THE BEST car seat we've ever owned!

I wouldn't spend the money, but it was nice as a gift.

This is my honest review of the Magellan® 5-in-1 Convertible Car Seat: Q.What's your favorite feature of this car seat? A.I like that it will be her carseat for as long as she needs one. We've got 3 boys and never had a convertible seat with them. Q.What did you think of the safety features of this car seat? A.I was impressed with how solid the seat was. Lots and lots of buffers between her and any outside forces. Q.Was it easy to adjust and customize the position of the seat to provide the safest and comfiest ride for your little one? A.Goodness, no. I had a hard time trying to get that little silver ball in the right zone. I have a Jeep Liberty, so the seats angle a little, I gathered from other people's reviews. It made it a little difficult to adjust the position. Q.What did you think of the fabric? Did you try takingoff the car seat cover? How easy was it to remove and clean? A. The fabric seemed nice. As for taking it off... hahahahahah. I was SO ANGRY trying to figure out how to peel back the bottom so I could get the LATCH system out... My goodness. It was a sight to see. Q.How easy was it for you to install this car seat? A.PFFTTT. Have you ever wrestled an angry raccoon into a dress? I'd imagine it's very similar. **I was given this Convertible Car Seat to try as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel.**

Versatile car seat that will grow with your child
June 6, 2019
I was able to test this car seat as a part of the WeeSpring Parent Panel. I have three children ages 5.5, 3.5, and an infant so having a car seat that is versatile and grows with my child is important. The fabric and foam are soft. My 3.5-year-old said it was comfortable. I tested my 6-week-old in it and it fit her nicely with the included support pillows. The removable silicone cup holders were a nice touch since cup holders in car seats are hard to clean. There are several adjustments you can make including the body of the car seat (torso), head rest, incline, and harness. My 5.5-year-old who is big for her age, didn't really fit in it even though she was within the height and weight requirements. She could sit in it but not as comfortably as my younger two. Her shoulders were touching the headrest and wedged in it if she sat up straight. As far as installation goes, the auto locking belt path feature made things easier. I was able to get a tight fit. With the auto locking belt feature I was able to get the car seat in myself with a very tight fit. It is a heavy seat but I don't plan on swapping this seat out once it's installed. I installed this in an F150 4 door truck and didn't have a problem. We have three car seats total and with this truck had plenty of room to fit all of them across the back seat. However, fitting three across in a car or SUV might be challenging. I tested both the latch system and belt path for installation and was able to do both without much hassle. It would have been handy to have someone help feed the belt through to me but I still managed to do this solo. Since it has several options for reclining (rear facing up to booster mode) the seat sits a bit higher off the vehicle seat. I was concerned my 3.5-year-old would have trouble getting in and out since the seats in the truck are already fairly tall but she is able to get in and out on her own. All in all, I am very pleased with this car seat!

Very Versatile!
June 6, 2019
I was given this carseat to try as part of the WeeSpring Parent Panel and I could not wait to try it out. This car seat has a ton of versatility! We used it for our two and a half year old and our four month old (separately, of course!) and were surprised to find that it worked well for each. The ability of this seat to grow with a child is my favorite feature (though the removable cupholders that are dishwasher safe are a close second!) - truly it transitions well from infancy to childhood. It was easy to adjust, though does take some time (definitely not ideal to switch between children as we did when testing it out but easy enough to change as a child grows). There are so many adjustable components to make the fit comfortable and safe for any child size. It was also fairly easy to install after we read the instructions a few times. The fabric is also nice, comfortable, and easy to clean. We were able to remove it and clean it without too much difficulty. One thing of note, however, is that for small infants the shoulder straps seemed to be a bit bulky. Completely fine for my older child, however - the fit definitely seemed much more natural and comfortable for my older child. The buckle, also, was sometimes difficult to undo depending on the cooperation of my infant! Overall a very sleek and nice looking seat that is comfortable, seems very sturdy and safe, and extremely adjustable.

Very Nice Car Seat
June 6, 2019
I was skeptical that a convertible car seat could truly be comfortable and easy to adjust to children from 5-120 pounds, but this car seat seems to be pretty close to perfect! I tested it on my 20 lb. one-year-old, my 40 lb. four-year-old, my 50 lb. six-year-old, and my 60 lb. eight-year-old. The car seat fits my three youngest very well. My eight-year-old is just a little bit too tall for the seat, but there is a handy "fit check guide" right on the side of the car seat box. The car seat is very easy to adjust to the proper height for your child. The instructions are detailed and easy to follow. I was pleasantly surprised by how simple it is to adjust the shoulder straps, which automatically adjust when you adjust the seat back height. The straps loosen and tighten easily to allow plenty of room to put the child in the seat. It is also very easy to put away the straps to use the seat as a high back booster seat with the car's seat belt. This car seat makes it very simple for me to put my toddler into a rear-facing position in our minivan, which is so important for increased safety. It was also a good fit for the four and six-year-olds to wear the five-point-harness, which surprised me. They all seem to think it is a very comfortable seat. The fabric is pretty luxurious! The car seat is easy to install into the car, although it is a bit on the heavy side. I don't think it would really last a child ten years, unless he is a very petite child, but I can easily see this seat growing with my child until he is six or seven years old. It is sturdy and appears to be very well made. Thank you to weeSpring Parent Panel for sending me this convertible car seat to test and review!

All The Features
June 6, 2019
I'm a bit crazy when it comes to car seat safety so the choice of what car seat to place my little one's life in is a big one (as it is for everyone). And as a car seat crazed mom of 3, I've been through a ton of seats in various brands. The Maxi Cosi Magellan 5-in-1 convertible is definitely a top contender on my list. PROS: I'm a sucker for extra features and this seat has them ALL so I will only list my favorites. *It has pillows for days that would keep even the crankiest baby content for your journey. *The safest seat is the one that you can get a secure install on every time and this install is easy as can be. I was a bit intimidated by all the moving parts when I first unboxed this beast but was pleasantly surprised by how quickly and easily it installed. *The tabs to keep the harness tucked out of the way while place your wiggle worm in the seat is by far my favorite feature. *Easy to remove and wash cover is a must have and they really nailed it on this one. CONS: *This thing is a BEAST with a pretty large footprint when rear facing. This was a non-issue in my SUV but didn't leave much room for the passenger in my husbands small sedan. *Again, it's beastly. The high weight of the seat means I'll have to switch to a seatbelt install sooner than later but that seems to be the industry's standard right now when a no rethread harness is involved and that's a must have IMO. *The back pillow occasional gets squished down out of place when my little stands in the seat before sliding down to a sit. It's easy to readjust before buckling and not a required component so if this is an annoyance to you, just remove it. *Not necessarily a con but worth noting- I did need to remove the shoulder strap covers to get a tight fit on my infant but not on my older forward facing child. Thank you to WeeSpring Parent Panel for sending us this seat to try. We love it!

Its okay... but..
June 6, 2019
I was given this Convertible Car Seat to try as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to review! This is an unbiased review, so please do not think I'll give it 5 stars for that! First off, this is a HUGE seat. If you're not comfortable installing car seats, I wouldn't recommend this one. It is stated on the manual that you will need to partially remove the cover for install. It is quite a pain to get a good fit. I didn't have an issue with tightening the straps but it was a pain to install! Very frustrating. The seat itself, looks very safe, very appealing. It's beautiful and my daughter is very comfortable riding in it. Cover is washable (follow instructions on manual) and the seat doesn't really retain much heat. We live in Florida and summers are intense. I still rear-face my little (10 months old) and this seat is very big front to back on infant recline. Barely fits in my SUV and much less in my husbands car sedan. We will continue to use this car seat once our little is ready to Forward face. Now, I also tried this seat for my 6 yr old just to see if it lives up to its expectations and it does! My 6 yr old also found it comfortable and once she fell asleep, it provided amazing head support. The seat is very wide so I wouldn't suggest if you have more than 2 car seat riders. Personally, I wouldn't invest in purchasing this car seat for that price tag it has when there're much nicer, comfortable and affordable seats out there. This is the first car seat I've actually had to have the manual out while installing and look up videos on YouTube for assistance. Overall, it is a safe and comfortable seat for the child.. just not "user friendly" for the parents/caregiver. I really don't have a favorite feature on this car seat, but I really do like the material on it.

Large and comfortable convertible car seat
June 6, 2019
Thank you to the weeSpring Parent Panel for providing me with this Convertible Car Seat. Pros: I loved the fact that the cup holders are removable and are made of a silicone-like material that is dishwasher safe - perfect for those backseat messes! The height and recline adjustments are simple and can even be done with one hand, which is great for growing little ones! The fact that it can be used from 5 lbs up to 120 lbs in rear-facing, forward-facing, or booster modes is great - no need to buy a separate booster seat when the time comes! The harness holders on the side are helpful in keeping the straps out of the way when putting your little one into the seat. Although we didn't need them, there are head and back pillows and a small infant positioning pillow that are included with the car seat which would be helpful in securely buckling an infant into the seat. The seat itself is fairly open on the side, which is nice for little ones to be able to see out the window. Cons: I really loved the feel of the fabric and comfort of the cushions, which is important for longer car rides, but the size/bulkiness of the car seat may be a concern for those with smaller cars or who need to install multiple car seats.

Car seat for all stages!
June 6, 2019
Thanks to the weeSpring Parent Panel for providing me with this Convertible Car Seat! So far I'm in love. My daughter is six months old so I haven't quite been able to test out every stage yet, but I can't even begin to explain how nice it is to have a car seat that will grow with your child! Totally worth the money since it saves you from having to buy more car seats as they get older. Installation was a breeze. It is super padded which is so nice and comfortable for my little one, especially on long road trips. Not to mention super easy to clean, which is a huge deal for me. My only complaints would be that the cup holder seems a little small and I did have a little trouble figuring out how to adjust it, but once I looked at the instruction manual and watched a video it was smooth sailing from there. Definitely would recommend!

Difficult install
June 3, 2019
I received this car seat as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel, but I promise this review is not biased by that. I was very intrigued by this seat's claims to be the only seat I'll ever need to buy again. Since my twins are only 9 months old, we've obviously only used it rear-facing, so that remains to be seen. Here are some pros and cons I actually can give an opinion on... Pros: so comfy! Love all the padding! Quick navigation quite in the manual makes it really easy to see when you can change modes of install, etc. My babies had only been in their infant carriers before this and they really liked the switch! Cons: difficult install. Hard to see the recline indicator, and you have to remove the cover to install which is an annoying extra step, esp bc this seat is pretty bulky. I think this seat is worth it if you have the patience to carefully install correctly...if that will frustrate you too much, I'd suggest choosing a different seat.

Most frustrating car seat
May 27, 2019
The first Magellan we received was defective. Customer service was great we were immediately sent a replacement however it was difficult to install and is difficult to tighten/loosen the chest straps. Chest straps will be loose while straps around legs are super tight. Extremely difficult to press red crotch button to release buckles. I have to ask my husband to unbuckle our son as I am not strong enough and even he still struggles with it. I just purchased a britax click tight for our other car and it is so much easier to use and is very securely installed with no movement at all. The police officer couldn't even get the Magellan to move less than 6 inches once installed and they are the professionals. So dissapointed considering the price point.

Harness and infant cushions do not work properly
May 25, 2019
I honestly have had such a hard time with this car seat, it made this mom almost cry. I bought it for the convenience of having just one car seat, and not having to get the infant car seat. Well, the instructions are so poorly made, that you can't figure out how to get the cushions in correctly for the infant version. There seems to be a gap where my baby's head is of ca 3-4 cm, which tilts her head back uncomfortably far. I have searched high and low for a video that could show me how to put a baby in this car seat or adjust the cushions correctly. Believe me I have tried. I can't get the straps to loosen or tighten while the baby is sitting in the seat and the Buckel is hard and uncomfortable on my baby's chest. Not to mention that the one hand opening is not working and it took me a full five minutes to get my baby out at 32 degrees Celsius. I am ready to return it, but I bought it a while before my baby was born and they won't take it back. What a frustrating experience.

The harness straps are terrible!
May 11, 2019
Just bought this seat and the strap is so hard to loosen and tighten. I went to the local police department for a safety seat check and the police man even was having difficulties trying to get it to loosen. He suggested to return the car seat and choose a different brand. He thought it may be defective.

Luxury Car seat for all stages of your little one's life!!
May 10, 2019
Wow! That is the best word I can use to describe the Magellan® 5-in-1 Convertible Car Seat. This is a luxury car seat; no detail was overlooked. It is very large and spacious to facilitate all sizes of babies, toddlers, and young children up to 10 years old. My 6-month old daughter, Scarlett, now looks like she in the Rolls-Royce of car seats... this seat has so much cushion and is more COMFORTABLE than any other car seat I have seen on the market! When the product showed up to my doorstep I was immediately impressed. It was packaged extremely well to ensure no damage would occur during the shipping process. It is a quite heavy, but sturdy, car seat. That being said, if you are smaller end it might be a little difficult to install on your own. The good news is that once it is installed, there is no need to adjust it until your little one moves on to their next stage of growth! The instillation process took about 30 minutes to install in my truck. It is a little tricky to figure out at first and the instruction manual is very VERY thick (which personally I find good because it covers all types of vehicles and instillation instructions for the different weight/age stages to adjust to your specific needs). This is crucial to keep your child safe! Keep in mind this is a very large car seat, so it might not fit in a smaller sized car; or if it did, it would take up half of your backseat. The Magellan® 5-in-1 Convertible Car Seat has a grow with me feature with the ability to move from rear facing to front facing, with several different positions of the seat and headrest to adjust to your baby to give them a custom fit. The cover is machine washable, which is a MUST for all parents (am I right?)! It also includes two cup holders for my little girl to store her baby puff cereal and other goodies until she moves onto her big girl sippy cup and toys. I received this product as part of the weeSpring parent Panel and was beyond excited to give it a try and share my thoughts.

Would definitely not buy again

The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because it's a comfortable seat and very padded and looks nice....but I am beginning to hate this seat. I've been using it for a couple months now and I literally have pulled muscles in my forearms from trying to tighten the straps. I get it as tight as I can possibly get it, and I'll go to get my son out and the straps look like I didn't even tighten it. I've made sure it's assembled properly and I've pulled on the straps at the shoulders to test it when the seat is empty and they don't budge. But somehow when I put my kid in it, it loosens? Doesn't make any sense. The red button to release the crotch buckles is pretty hard to press and I have to press it against my son just to get it undone. And the straps are so flemsy they get twisted constantly...very annoying when in a rush trying to get a toddler out of the house. As far as installation goes, it seems about impossible to get it tight enough. The base of it is tight, but the top of the seat moves quite a bit even with the base only moving a tiny bit when tested. I am not comfortable with my child's safety in this seat, which is a huge bummer because I can't return it at this point and it was expensive. I got this one to do it all and not have to buy more seats as he grows. I'd pick my britax clicktight 100 times over this one.

Can't loosen harness, can't unbuckle crotch, cover piling
April 30, 2019
I've watched the videos and emailed Maxi Cosi without a response. I have 2 Magellan Max seats. I can't loosen the harness-- yes I've watched the youtube videos and no it won't budge. My husband who is very strong also can't loosen the harness. Also with my newborn in the seat it is near impossible to unbuckle the crotch because you have to press it so hard. Even when its pressed you have to pull out the tongue/straps they don't automatically release and fall/pop out. He screams his head off every time I put him in or take him out and I wish I could return but didn't realize you can't return a used seat to BBB. I also bought the max for my 2 year old and have had to wash the seat 2 times since we got it in December. There are these notches on the side that you need to use to release the cover from which is very difficult and so is reinstalling it in these notches so I just didn't! Also the seat is already pilling after 2 washes according to the directions. Poor quality fabric.

Awful
December 16, 2018
I wanted to love this but I have no idea how the reviews are so good. It is such a huge hassle to get your child in and out of the car seat every single time! The harness is impossible to tighten fully. I read a response from maxi Cosi on a similar Review Where they gave the reviewer complicated multi step instructions on how to tighten the harness easier and it is such a JOKE. What parent wants to be struggling attaching and reattaching things to the harness EVERY TIME they put their child in and car!? Especially when you have to deal with it for YEARS. Plus the metal clip is ridiculously hard the unclip when taking baby out of the seat. Im going to return it. But honestly this product is a total joke, And has caused me nothing but stress and wasted time. Thank for nothing maxi-Cosi.

Very Frustrating to use.

Difficult to secure seat and tighten harness strap! This is a 90-day review of the Magellan Max 5-in-1 seat, and it is unfortunately not as easy to install - especially in rear-facing mode - the seat or strap down a child as the Britax Advocate click-tight with an anti-rebound bar. The biggest problems with this seat have been encountered when swapping it into different cars. It's almost always crooked and leans to one side after tightening, and to make matters worse, the seat is not very rigid (slides around with a lot of slop). The tightening of the straps are nearly impossible and requires a very strong person to pull it. Even after pulling it tight, there is a gap between the child's chest and the straps that is at least 3/4". This makes me feel very uneasy! The red release button on the strap is also unnecessarily difficult to push. I thought both the strap and button would be worn in after 4 months and get easier to use over time, but now I'm regretting trading the Britax Advocate with the anti-rebound bar for this unit. I am not very happy with the design of the aforementioned problems.

Great carseat!

I recently purchased this seat as a gift and it is great. It seems to be very well made and is simple to adjust as your child grows. Also the colors are fantastic!
Cons
  • It is a pretty large and bulky car seat as compared to others on the market.

The most frustrating car seat ever
November 10, 2018
The straps are very difficult to tighten and loosen on this model. We tried several methods- even taking it to the fire department. It would not work. I also had to buy a gadget to unlock the straps. I tried customer support, but they didn't follow up. I would never recommend this seat.

Very hard to adjust
November 1, 2018
Difficult getting child in and out. I had to purchase a device to unlock the straps. Also, the magnetic clip usually takes several attempts Tightening the straps takes a lot of strength and often will not tighten enough.

I am so in love with this car seat!! As soon as i saw this car seat i could tell how safe my son would be in it! He is very comfortable or in the seat and falls asleep almost immediately when he gets in it. Their is so much protection around him, i know he is safe when we are driving in the car. Best part is this seat will be able to grow with him for a long time and i never have to worry about his safety in this seat.

I like it because it is very comfortable and easy to clean. The fabric is machine washable.i can adjust the height positions. The cup holders are good.seat is super comfy. this car seat will last from birth to 10 years child so it is a great investment for a good quality. looking forward to keep seeing a happy baby while we are going on short or long drive. i would recommend it other then that for safety .
