Great comfortable car seat
May 3, 2020
This seat seems so much more comfortable than others out there, and comes at a great price. I also love that it has cup holders and can be used for life.

Amazing carseat!
May 1, 2020
This carseat is padded amazingly for comfort of your little one. I imagine it's like sitting in a padded recliner. Everytime my little one gets in it she falls asleep and that's saying something, as she hates car rides. This car seat has made a huge impact on her ability to ride comfortably when we have to go out. This carseat is just amazing.

Did not fit child, Customer Service policies are not good
March 5, 2020
We bought the Magellan Maxi Cosi during a sale in November to take advantage of Black Friday sales, into the basement it went until it was time to switch our daughter over to a convertible. We pull it out and find that we cannot adjust it to safely fit our child and reach out the manufacturer, after almost a week of back and forth they will not take the carseat back because we've had it for more than 35 days and they do not take returns for fit issues. Carseat fit is integral to car seat safety for children, and this is a car seat company. They offered to swap out the carseat for another model we had purchased at the same time, the other seat works but is not my first choice for the everyday carseat. In order to do this they require the destruction of the old car seat, instead of verifying a donation to an adoption agency, a foodbank, women's shelter etc. I'm absolutely appalled and hope you will consider sharing this on your platform.

Love this carseat!
January 28, 2020
I bought this carseat after someone had recommended it to us. We have had this carseat for about a year and absolutely love it. It's easy to install and transfer to a new vehicle if needed and holds up well to every day wear and tear. My daughter is comfortable in this carseat and doesn't fuss on long car rides which is also a plus. I have removed the covers and washed them a few times. The first time I removed them I had some issues but now knowing how to get them on and off it is a breeze. I would definitely reccomend this carseat to others.

Great purchase
January 18, 2020
I purchased this for my 2 year old. He seems to love it. The comfort and safety is our top concerns when buying a car seat and we have always loved maxi cosi for both of those reasons. We don’t have issues with his head falling and he doesn’t complain about getting in his seat with it. It is a great fit and he will be in this seat for many years to come with the different options. To make it even better purchasing and shipping with Albee baby is always easy and quick. I recommend maxi cosi to everyone looking for a new car seat especially if you travel often for the comfort.

Difficult to Install
December 31, 2019
I have a 3 month old, and as such have not been able to use all of the features of this car seat yet. However, my 3mo doesn't mind the infant seat, so that's a win! I love that it will grow with him. It was harder to install in our car than the base for our infant car seat carrier combo, but we will keep it as our backup!

The Lexus of car seats
December 27, 2019
We received the Maxi Cosi Magellan XP in Taylor (blue green - unisex) in exchange for an honest review!!! I must say this is easiest car seat we've ever had! We are on kid #4 and have tried multiple car seats (Britax, Graco Nautilus, Cosco) and this is our favorite. Love that is has multiple inserts that can be removed as baby grows for the best fit possible. The internal cushions are made of a different material and they feel so luxurious! Our 3 year old is currently using it in the 2nd row of our minivan in the forward facing position. It has a slight recline on it so that when he falls asleep his head goes back instead of falling forward! We also love that the cover unzips for easy washing. The removable cup holders are amazing my kids leave fruit, candy and fries in there and it's yucky so I am thankful I can take them off and put them in the dishwasher. It is easy to move from one vehicle to another, at first I thought it would be too bulky but it's honestly a lot easier than moving the graco nautilus. A lot of features definitely make sure you read the instructions. Lots of snaps that do useful things

Easy to install
December 27, 2019
This carseat is significantly easier to install via latch system in my vehicle than the Graco car seats that I have used in the past. The strap tightens easier. I am using forward facing for my now 3-year old. One downfall is that the headrest is not as easy to adjust as the Graco Extend-2-Fit that I also own, nor is the recline adjustment. Another oddity is that the cushions to use for smaller babies do not attach to anything - they just sit in the seat, which seems odd to me and possibly unsafe. My daughter likes this seat - I was going to use it for my younger child, but as soon as it was unboxed, she claimed it as her own. The blue is a beautiful color and, coincidentally, matches the color of my car perfectly. Cupholders are a little small - could not fit my daughter's (Zak! brand) water bottle in the cupholder. Overall I would recommend the car seat and will continue to use it...it is a perfectly fine car seat.

Straightforward Install
December 26, 2019
I received the Maxi Cosi Magellan XP car seat to try out. I was using another brand all in one type. At first it seemed as though the car seat would be too big for my vehicle but it actually wound up taking up less space compared to the previous car seat. The installation was very straightforward and I installed it for a rear facing child. The seat was installed with a seat belt that does not lock automatically. This car seat has an added safety feature of an AutoLock for use with these types of seat belts. I have not seen that in any of the car seats I've used in the past. The material of the seat is very soft and plush which is really nice and will make longer car rides more comfortable for my son. It is also extremely adjustable so you can have 7 different reclines depending on if the child is rear facing, forward facing or if it's being used as a booster. I think this will ensure maximum comfort and positioning over the years as my son grows. This car seat hits all the marks so far and I look forward to using it for many years to come.

Great features & sleek design
December 26, 2019
For my first child, we only used Graco car seats, and we started using them for baby 2 as well. I like the sleek design of the Magellan XP and some of the upgrades features. I like how the latch straps zip away under the car seat, how the cup holders are removable, and all of the different positions for recline, extended torso, and height. It was a tight fit to do rear facing in our Lincoln, so our passenger in the front will just have to scrunch legs a little more than normal. I like that the seat can be used from newborn to big kid with ease. I like the chest snaps - easier to use. I did not like the strap release mechanism. Graco products are easier to find and plastic covered, whereas you have to dig a little and it is just a metal piece. My daughter likes the comfort and color of the seat! She was playing with it in the house before we put it in the car, so she likes when she gets to ride in her blue seat. I would recommend!

May be better for larger kids
December 26, 2019
I understand that a convertible car seat can't be perfect for all ages, but I'm using it for an 8 month old and I'm not that impressed. I used a graco extend to fit for my older daughter and it didn't seem so bulky. It is more difficult to get the chest chip in the right place and a tighter fit of the straps. I took the buckle cover and the strap covers off and it was better, but my daughter wearing anything thicker than a long sleeve shirt made it difficult too. I read the directions and I believe that I have it set up properly. My daughter has a short neck, so I'm hoping that she will grow into a better fit with this seat. I do like that I don't have to pull the whole cloth cover off to get to the tie down straps. I'm not giving up on the seat yet. I hopeful I'll like it better as she gets larger

Many perfect functional details
December 21, 2019
This Car Seat is great! I feel like my son is so secure in it. I love the padded headrest and the multiple positions. My 2 year old will be able to use this car seat for years to come. The buckles are so easy to tighten which is a problem I've had with other ones. It loosens easily with the push of a button. The chest buckle is bigger and always in the correct place. I especially love the little slots for the straps to tuck into so that they aren't under my son as I'm trying to get him buckled. I gave it 4 stars because I wish the cup holders were a bit bigger so my son's water bottle could fit in it. Overall I am very happy with this car seat.

It's nice and big
December 18, 2019
This is a good, safe car seat that will grow with your child. The pros: it's big seat seems comfortable for my guy, it's lower on the sides than the Chicco NextFit so it's easier to get him in and out, and it will grow with my baby through booster seat time. The cons: it's difficult to install, it's huge so there's no way you could ever get 3 across and there's less room for my front seat to adjust (so adults are squished against the dash), the lower sides make it easier for my wiggly baby to reach the door handle and the straps constantly twist.

A very good product
December 16, 2019
This is a solid car seat for your kid going up to 120lb. Good features that allow the seat to be in recline position and can be used both in forward and backward facing. The seat is on heavier end and the spacing in seat is a little cramp. Overall, it’s a very good car seat.

Great all-in-one seat!
December 15, 2019
This seat is a Cadillac. My two year old daughter loves this seat and will tell me unprompted how comfortable it is. I love that it will last her through her booster seat days. I like the versatile color as well. While it is large, it fits just fine in my Honda Odyssey right next to an infant seat. The only real negatives of the seat are that it's a little difficult to install (we had a lot of trouble with the auto lock feature and the location of the level made it difficult to see) and its size might not make it the best fit for a smaller car. I received a complimentary seat for review, but my opinions are my own.

SAFE, EASY TANK OF A CARSEAT
December 12, 2019
The Maxi Cosi Magellan XP is a great car seat and my daughter (20 months) really seems to enjoy it. I received this as a FREE sample to try it and submit my honest review. FIRST UP: this is a hefty car seat, its ~25 pounds, which, to me, makes me feel like it is safe, because it is clearly made with quality parts that are going to hold up if we're in a crash, because its got a really solid frame. My husband whined that it didn't have a handle on it to make it easy to carry - but let's be realistic, this isn't a car seat that you're carrying around from car to car, or taking on a plane with you (dear god don't haul a 25 pound car seat around an airport, there are reasonable lightweight ones for travel) - but you DO want a tank like this for your day-to-day to keep your child safe. SECOND: okay, the install. As mentioned, I am using this for a 20-month old, so she is still rear-facing. She is < 35 pounds still, so I can use the latch system and wanted to try that out (I appreciated that the manual is specific about weights for latch vs seatbelt), and it was...reasonably easy to do. I like the zipper feature on the seat to really easily access the path for both the latch and seatbelt paths. It is REALLY nice that there are spots inside the seat that the latch system can connect to for storage (I have other car seats where there is no spot to store them and they hang and swing around which is annoying, especially when moving the seat or traveling). Then it was easy to feed the latch system through, lock under the lock paths (very nice touch), and click in to my car's latch system. The ONLY annoying part - it was really difficult to tighten the latch belt enough. I had to have my husband help me. I think that it would have been easier if I had used the seatbelt, because that path looked easy and I'm familiar with how to lock that. I just wish that the latch belt was a bit easier to tighten as well. I also needed to recline the seat a bit so that the seat was at the right incline - its easy to do, but I had to unlatch and move the seat to access the lever - bah. Guess I should have looked at the level before latching! (they tell you to check that first...2nd time mom here, I ignored the direction, hah) THIRD: getting kiddo in - super easy. I like that there are slots to hold the seatbelt straps out of the way, and its easy to adjust the height of the shoulder straps. I wish the strap-loosener wasn't covered in fabric - I struggle to find it every time to loosen the straps when getting kiddo out. (Struggle for just like, 2 seconds) Not a big deal, but annoying design feature. BUT what is an awesome design feature? The built in cup holders!! OMG these are the BEST because I am definitely one of those moms that gives my kids snacks and water in the car, and so the fact that there are 2 easy to reach cupholders built in, to hold a water cup and then some snacks is really perfect - one of the first things I started using, and something that is really different from our other seats. I've got 2 kids, and before trying this Magellan seat, I had regularly used 2 other brands of car seats (one as the day-to-day tank in my car, the other as a lighter weight in my husband's car and for travel). This one is right up there with the tanks in my car in terms of being a great, safe car seat, easily adjustable, relatively easy to install, and even better by having the cup holders and some of the design features like the locking paths and spots to hold the straps out of the way which are really unique and clearly were added based on feedback from real parents! When I first got it, I thought I would try it and then gift it to a friend expecting her 2nd kid...but now, selfishly, I've decided to keep it for myself instead!! Definitely recommending it to her! It is an excellent choice for a car seat and I'm excited for my daughter to grow with it.

Safe and secure
December 11, 2019
I am very familiar with car seats, I have owned over 6 different car seats with my four children and I feel like I have a pretty good handle on what constitutes a good car seat versus a bad one. I am overall very impressed with the Maxi Cosi Magellan XP. It is very simple to install in the car, I used the LATCH anchors. I also found it quite simple to load my baby as well as my toddler into the seat and also removal of the child was a breeze. This car seat looks and feels secure and sturdy. I especially love that it can be used for such a large age/weight range. I can keep my children rear facing comfortably until past the age of 3 and then flip the seat around to make it forward facing. I wish I had known about the Maxi Cosi Magellan XP 6 years ago when my oldest was a baby. Overall, I highly recommend this car seat.

Easy Installation
December 10, 2019
Installation: I've owned 3 convertible car seats including Chicco Nextfit Zip, Maxi Cosi Pria 85 Max, and this one. The installation on this car seat is by far the easiest. The instructions are clear and succinct in the manual. I usually have to look up instructions on Youtube, but I didn't need to with this installation. The belt pathway is easily accessible from a zippered area. I've been to two car seat installation inspections and both inspectors recommend car seats with the AutoLock feature. My car's belt locks in increments so there's usually a small bit of slack which compromises the tight installation. The AutoLock takes care of that. Safety: The side impact protection is very thick and offers extra protection. The safest spot for a car seat is in the middle, but it's not always convenient for poor mama's back taking the ever growing toddler in and out of the car from the middle spot. The superior side impact protection gives me peace of mind when putting the car seat on the side. Versatility: Compared to the Chicco Nextfit Zip, this car seat seems to be truly more versatile. The Magellan's back adjustment starts at a much lower position, and the car seat reclines much farther. I would favor the Magellan for long road trips since the additional recline will allow my toddler to sleep more comfortably. Weight limit is nearly double the Chicco at 120lbs vs 65lbs. I see this car seat as truly versatile from birth to adulthood (yes, I could even sit on it at 100lbs). Usability: The double cup holders are awesome! My 19-month-old toddler loves being able to put things in both cup holders. The fact that they can be removed with an easy twist makes it so easy to clean. My toddler really likes the seat. It is well cushioned and seems very comfortable. She willingly and easily climbs onto the seat by herself. The belt is easy to adjust and there is a smooth glide to loosen. My biggest complaint is that the buckle is a bit far down and the sheath for the buckle is fairly large. I have to move the sheath slightly prior to clicking it in. With that said, I haven't been using the seat for too long so I presume I will get used to it after a while.

Great seat my kids love
December 10, 2019
I have a 2 and 4 year old. When this car seat first arrived, they fought over who got to use it. And now that it is installed, they switch back and forth who gets to sit in it. They love it! It was pretty easy to install, no easier or more difficult than any other car seat I have had. It is very heavy and bulky, but that is fine for us. It wouldn't be good if you are trying to fit three car seats across. I have found that it is very easy to tighten, which was important for me. I have other car seats that are difficult to tighten all the way, I have to put a lot of effort and strength in. Whereas this harness is very smooth. It was difficult at first to figure out how to loosen it, the button isn't in the most obvious spot, but once I figured it out it was super easy. I have only used it as a forward facing car seat, so I can't speak to how it works rear facing, or as a booster. But I am very happy that when I need a booster, I will be able to use this car seat. Overall I am happy with the product.

Comfort for baby and mind
December 10, 2019
Love this car seat. The seat and cushion are so soft and gel like. It's clear that my daughter is super comfortable. Definitely an upgrade from her old seat. I love how easy it is to get her in and out of the seat. Further the adjustability of the seat is fabulous. From rear facing, to forward facing and eventually a booster she is going to have this for a very long time. And I also feel that the design of the seat makes it extremely safe for car travel from infant on up. It's clear that a lot of thought went into the design of this. With things like removable cup holders that make it easy to dump all the goldfish out of! I will definitely be recommending this to friends with new babies or looking for a new car seat. *Disclosure, I received this car seat for free

While im waiting for a new car, we started using the car seat as a chair for my daughter. Its very flexible and has several options for reclining. My daughter plays her tablet in the chair often enough. She loves putting her bottle of water next to her or any other toys she wants to have handy.

Cadillac of carseats
December 5, 2019
I was amazed how big this car seat seemed. But it actually takes up less room in the vehicle than our previous car seat had. It fits perfectly in a Jeep Grand Cherokee without having to have the front seats straight up. There are a lot of features on this car seat that we didn't have with our infant carrier. The ease of set up was amazing. The instruction book it came with is easy to follow. My little guy actually enjoys road trips now so it must be comfortable. You can tell by just setting this car seat up that it is sturdy and safe. I think the only downside that I have noticed is that the lap buckle is kind of hard to press if you have nails. Other than that we love our MaxiCosi and love that it's the only car seat and booster we will ever need.

I love it!
December 3, 2019
As a mom with two young kids, car seats are a necessary part of my life. I work full time and have a nanny who drives our kids to all their activities. We move the car seats in and out of the cars multiple times a week when we can't lend her our car. The Magellan XP Maxi-COSI car seat is so easy to move!! I normally dread this part of the day as I can't get the car seats in or out. This one is portable and makes my life easier which I am always looking for! My son also loves his new car seat and wants to be in it all the time. It is roomy and comfortable and I love the colors! I also love that it will be with him for many years to come!

Stable and Secure - Perfect for my growing family!
December 2, 2019
I have two kids, 4 years old and just turned 1 year old. This means I have a lot of car seats, we own 5 car seats now and I used those for my comparison! I used the Maxi Cosi Magellan XP for my 1 year old in the rear facing position. My review is for the rear facing position and a 1 year old. We've tested this car seat for about 3 weeks now. Pros: Sturdy car seat, comfortable material, cup holders!, easy to read follow along manual that is clear to install and set up, grows with the child and can be rear or forward facing, easy to clean. Cons: Heavy, This car seat is not made for moving in and out of your vehicle on a regular basis, no sun shade. Installation: Because this car seat is made to grow with your child there are a lot of accessories. Since my son was already 1 year old when we received this some of those accessories are no longer needed. I had to figure that out first. The instruction manual was very clear on the indications of how the seat needs to be installed and I was able to do it on my own. I had someone double check my work and they agreed it was easy. I did not feel any wiggle with the car seat. I am 5'4 and I drive an SUV, the length or width of the car seat fit perfectly in my car. I love the leveling indicators which help me know the seat is balanced. Comfort: Our child easily fits in the seat, with comfortable straps that don't tangle. The tightening mechanism is easy to use. Plus the cover comes off with a quick zip for cleaning. Style - We have the blue color, Taylor, and it is a great blue. Not too boyish or girlish, it's a great gender neutral blue. Overall: This car seat feels like an upgrade. I feel confident knowing it is safe and secure for my most important passenger. It's so easy to snap my one year old in and out of the seat. It's also very comfortable for long drives, and he falls asleep comfortably in the seat. We're excited to have our child grow with the seat knowing it's capability to grow with him.

Best car seat we have had!!
December 2, 2019
We are on car seat number 6 for our kids and this is the best one yet!!! We were a brand loyalist to our current car seats due to safety but this car seat has changed our minds! Our baby has a super cushion seat, plenty of room, and extra protection in this car seat. We love that he will use the Maxi Cosi Magellan for the life of his car seat usage! I have already made mom friends come look at our new car seat installed. It is really easy to install but the crotch buckle does take some figuring out and manual reading but other than that, it may be the easiest car seat to install. It is very large and heavy so it will not travel with us. We are thrilled to have this car seat!

Overall an excellent choice in convertible car seats.
December 1, 2019
I really have enjoyed the addition of the Maxi Cosi Magellan car seat to our travel. Once the seat is installed and the setting are as you want them, getting the little one in and out is a breeze. The installation was another story. My other car seat is not a convertible, so I wasn't quite ready for the time commitment in getting it set up. I do like the latch system and find it essential in my car which has inflatable seat belts in the back. The instructions are extensive as there are so many positions this seat can be in. I think if I had just watched a video, I may have been less frustrated. BUT once the setting are in place this is a great car seat that I feel will keep my little one safe all the way up through the time she is ready to be out of a boaster!

Softest and Plushest Car Seat Ever (and super versatile!)
November 29, 2019
This car seat is the coziest, plushest car seat that I've ever seen. I couldn't get over how soft it is when I first took it out of it's box. It is much softer and plusher than some other brands - other big name car seats out there on the market. It has so many amazing features as well such as the plush buckle covers and strap covers as well as the cup holders. There are so many different settings for this seat - rear facing for tiny infants, rear facing for larger infants and toddlers, forward facing, and booster seats. It can be adjusted in so many different ways to fit your child for a super safe and comfortable car ride. I was worried initially that I would find it difficult to set up for my child due to it's versatility, but it was so easy following the manual steps! I just went step by step and found that the manual was very clear and straight forward with how to get the car seat set up to both fit my child and get it strapped in my car. I have no doubts regarding the safety of this seat - it fit into my car perfectly and when all strapped in, was not budging at all. My child, who is currently a toddler, fits in the seat perfectly and seems to enjoy riding in the car.

Wonderful supportive easy-to-use seat
November 27, 2019
We have a stroller/infant seat combo but we needed a seat that can grow with our baby. The seat is a gorgeous blue, supportive padding perfect for an infant but then easily adjusts for taller, larger kids. I love that the fabric is machine washable and the cup holders are removable and dishwasher safe.

Comfiest Carseat
November 27, 2019
This carseat has been a lifesaver for our family. Our eight month old son from about 1 month old has HATED his carseat. There were very few times he would not cry and scream when put in it for more than 10 minutes. It made car rides miserable for everyone. We had little hope that this carseat would produce any different results. However, since switching him to this Maxi-Cosi Magellan XP he has done a 180. The carseat is so comfy (my eight year old has asked if they make one her size because it is so plush and comfy). I think that the one thing that has helped my son with this carseat is that it has a lot of room for babies legs. He is able to move his legs easier and it is wider where his legs are. It comes with extra cushions for smaller babies. One of the features I have a love/hate relationship with is the carseat buckle cover at the bottom. I love that it has a cushion around it and that it helps protect the buckle from burning him in the heat. However, it can also be a pain when buckling and get in the way. I would definitely prefer to have it on, but would like for it be less bulky so it makes buckling in easier. The carseat fits in my car well as a backwards facing carseat which I was also pleasantly surprised about since it looked very bulky at first. I have a Honda Accord for reference. Installation of the carseat for backwards facing was fairly simple (we used the latch system). It was a little daunting at first when my husband and I looked at the instruction manual, but once we actually got to putting it in it wasn't as difficult as we anticipated it might be. I love that this carseat can become a forward facing seat and then a booster. Carseats are so expensive, but to purchase one that grows with the child is well worth it!

Sub-premium carseat at a premium price
November 27, 2019
We have the chicco car nextfit zip convertible car seat in addition to a cosco apt 50 car seat. It appears that if these two car seats had a child then its offspring would be this seat (this is not a compliment). The nice thing about the carseat is the two cup holders and the royal blue color other than that these are the only two good things for the seat. There are several major issues with the carseat Ā  1.)Ā Ā Ā Ā The installation of the carseat is not practical for anyone to use and would require . There are some major design flaws in the car seat. Especially when it comes to rotating/reclining the carseat and viewing if the marble is on center. This is not the most ideal location/placement to put the level for the seat. It is nice to have a marble setup to view versus a two line guage as the cosco apt 50. However considering that this is on the base of the seat makes it hard to verify and the color combination is not contrasting enough to verify that it is properly set. Yet on our chicco nextfit there is a bubble level which makes it very easy to verify you have setup the carseat properly. 2.)Ā Ā Ā Ā Additionally the area to compress to recline/rotate the seat was impossible to move. They state this is a 1 hand 7 position recline but I had to use two hands on the mechanism to recline. One would have to push down and use your additional hand to move slightly up because the mechanism did not fully compress to allow it to recline. Ā However when using the chicco nextfit the one handed mechanism works great (we used this in multiple cars and had to make adjustments. I cannot imagine making adjustments to this without getting frustrated.) 3.)Ā Ā Ā Ā Additionally the anchor straps for the car are not as good as the chicco car nextfit and with this price point of a car seat would be disappointed that it was the same mechanism as the cosco apt-50. To tighten the carseat in the car anchor points just makes it harder versus the chicco. As a parent that has the chicco carseat I am thankful that the straps are very easy to tighten/adjust while removing from the car. 4.)Ā Ā Ā Ā Lastly when strapping our in our toddler it was not great either. The straps would get twisted when we would tighten straps after we buckled our guy in. Our chicco nexfit or cosco apt 50 does not do this at all. This is not a user issue, our little guy is 3 years old so we have several years of experience in this. Ā  To sum it up you are getting a sub-premium product at a premium price. I would not recommend this carseat to anyone and advise them to go with chicco unless they want a royal blue carseat

Wonderful all in-one seat, high quality
November 25, 2019
This is my first time using an all-in-one car seat for my two and a half year old. Previously, we were using an extended rear-facing convertible car seat by another major brand. I am so impressed by this car seat! My daughter is very comfortable forward-facing in the seat with its plush padding and plenty of coverage for her body. I especially appreciated the extra air support for her head and adjustable middle body support that can grow with her and better support her spine. This car seat was a little more difficult to install for the first time than others as the latch system must be threaded through different areas if you are using it rear-facing versus forward-facing unlike other seats which tend to only be on one position regardless. While this may be more tedious initially, you're not really going to be taking the seat in and out of the car as the cover is completely removable with the seat inside of the car and this probably provides better crash coverage overall. Something I will say about this seat though is it is probably not a good seat for extended rear-facing your child if he or she is tall. My child is 2 1/2 and in the 90th percentile for height and she was very uncomfortable rear-facing versus other brands which allow for more leg room. I know that this doesn't really matter in the event of a crash but it is hard enough getting a toddler into a rear-facing car seat without an extra struggle because she's uncomfortable. The depth of this car-seat from where her butt is to the end of the seat is 14 inches compared to her extended car seat which is 18 inches so it allows for four more inches of leg room rear-facing. With the new guidelines they recommend keeping them rear-facing much longer which may not be possible with this seat depending on your child's height. I also don't like the idea of using this as an infant car seat versus a traditional infant car seat with a base as getting your infant in and out of their car seat is much easier to do inside the house versus in the car every time, especially if they're sleeping and you're trying not to wake them up as you move them to and from their stroller or the house but this is just my personal preference. The seat cover is easy to remove while the seat is in the car which is a huge bonus for me. I hate having to remove the current cover of her other car seat which requires me to take the car seat out of the car so that I can reach the back harness straps and rethread them every time. Convertible car seats aren't light and when your child gets sick in the car or spills milk, or just simply has an accident, you want to get the cover off as quickly as possible and this car seat makes that happen. It's one of the top features I look for now as I prepare for our second child. I noticed very shortly after installation that the stitching where the seat pad zipper ends was starting to pull apart only after using the seat a few times which was concerning. This isn't a cheap car seat so I would expect the stitching to be superb. It's not something I can't fix myself, and it could have just been a defect from the factory as that kind of thing happens, but I haven't even washed the cover yet and it's already pulling apart? Very disappointing. Comprehensively, however, this is a wonderful car seat. The attention to detail is very much appreciated. The easy out harness holders to help keep the buckles out of the way and from getting hot during the summer appear to be rubber backed and snug so they actually do a great job of keeping the buckle aside versus my current seat which slips out all the time and I never end up using it. I also really appreciate the buckle cover as when she wears shorts, the straps and buckle on her current seat can sometimes chafe her thighs and I can imagine it is generally more comfortable for her. I would say that this is a great car seat and very high quality but may not necessarily be the only car seat you'd ever own based on personal preferences and height issues with rear-facing but definitely a worthy investment into the safety of your child.

Great Seat
November 25, 2019
Let's just say before receiving this seat I didn't know much about the Maxi-Cosi brand other than they had colorful seats. I was pleasantly surprised by the comfortable padding and the sturdiness of the seat. When I pulled it out of the box my daughter was immediately drawn to it and sat in it. She loved it and didn't want to get out. Of course her older brother had to test it out as well. I think he wanted the seat to be his. My daughter absolutely loves sitting in her seat and I haven't had any problems with getting her to sit in it. The one thing that I didn't care for was the instruction manual. It was confusing to me and didn't really help with installation. I attempted to watch YouTube videos but they weren't any better and I have to rewatch them several times. Other than that everything about this seat is great. I would definitely recommend to my friends but I would also recommend the company get better instructions.

Love the look
November 25, 2019
Love the look of this car seat. It looks bulky but left the plenty of room in the backseat of our SUV. Our infant just graduated from his bucket seat and we love that this will grow with him! He seems very comfortable in this. Initially it was hard to buckle but has become easier over a few uses. It is nice that the button buckle is covered for comfort. The seat was very easy to install with the latch system and seems to be very safe. So far we really like this seat and would recommend it!

Love our Maxi Cosi Magellan XP!
November 25, 2019
We have been using our new Maxi Cosi Magellan XP for about a week now. It was unbelievably easy to adjust to my 18 month old's specifications as well as install in the car. The design is cosmetically appealing and the thickness of the foam makes me feel like my little guy is very well protected! The only thing that has been somewhat difficult is the straps getting twisted up and makes strapping him in a little bit more work. Overall, wonderful product I would recommend highly!

Wish I was warned..
November 17, 2019
This is a high quality seat with a few nice features others don't have, but in our experience it has had its challenges. For starters, the instructions didn't mention the latch system being hidden, I finally found it after I had to take apart the seat to clean it. My son got sick and vomited in the seat a couple short weeks after buying the seat. I wished I had been able to learn how it worked before that moment. However it did my best, carefully pulled it apart, thoroughly cleaned it, machine washed it, air dried it, and put it back together exactly how I took it apart. I wasn't impressed with so many places that had spots where stuff could go in, but I as the mom couldn't clean out. Also putting those covers on again was such a struggle and no way could we use this seat with a newborn who will have blowouts and spit up regularly (it's what newborns do) and the seat needing taken apart more often than not. The fabric also looks different after the wash, it gets creased or wrinkled and I wasn't impressed with that look until it was able to stretch again. After all this I think we will be buying a infant seat too now, maybe even a different brand. Our seats are only a few weeks old (I purchased two of them), one for my youngest son and a matching one for our daughter due in April (still in the box). They were difficult to reinstall, neither the latch system or the seat belt seem to be tight enough (I'm positive I installed correctly). I am not used to basic car seats or anything as we have always had BRITAX seats with my older boys and even the younger boy, but because we have a newbie on the way, we bought another vehicle and decided on matching seats since our bigger boys got matching boosters. Lastly all that to say it's a good seat once you get the hang of all of the struggles, but know what your purchasing before hand. In my opinion I wouldn't purchase this seat again.

Great Seat at Great Price
October 28, 2019
Purchased the Magellan for the convertible-ness of the seat and seat belt/LATCH options. It does take some time to read through the directions, pretty thorough and complete. Had to pull the seat cover off to get at the LATCH straps, which is alright. I like the clean design. Took a bit to setup for my 2yo niece. First time I put it all together (first time adjusting ANY car seat), I twisted the LATCH strap around the harness, so it was tough to tighten. Figured it out pretty quick, now everything works well. Harness is easy to get her in and out of. I have the seat forward facing with LATCH system. Super easy to install in car once set up. This seat is a tank. Great car seat. I would recommend and have recommended this seat.

Good carseat but the harness and buckle need improvement

It is a good car seat. But the harness and buckle are not so easy to use, and sometimes can be a problem with a not so patient toddler.

Decent Car Seat - Really Poor Instructions
August 6, 2019
The car seat is a great fit. After digging through countless blogs and forums, watching YouTube reviews on how to set it up, we finally figured out how to fit the extra pillows. The website, the brands YouTube channel, the manual....all totally useless. The diagrams in the manual offer zero help on how to use the pillows, where to place them, etc. Seriously frustrating trying to figure it out with a really irritated/screaming newborn crunched into the seat improperly as we fumble with it. GET SOME DECENT SET UP VIDEOS WITH ALL OPTIONS EXPLAINED ON YOUR CHANNEL.

Nice comfy & safe seat a little tough to install on leather seat
July 15, 2019
I really love all the safety features but it was tough to get it installed with the less than 1 inch of movement on my leather seats in my dodge caravan. I had to recline the bucket seat some to get the blue ball to be in the right zone for rear facing. Took a lot longer than installing my Britax in comparison the base on the britax has grips on bottom that help it not to slide. Overall after several tries and breaks I got it nice and tight and hopefully never have to remove it and re-install! Nice seat, little tricky install
Pros
  • Safe
  • Comfortable
  • Cushiony and padded
Cons
  • Tough to get a tight install using seatbelt on leather seat

Very nice carseat
July 2, 2019
I received this car seat from the weeSpring Parent Panel for a fair review. I really like this car seat! My LO is only 9 months old, so we haven't had to make too many adjustments, yet, but the flexibility of fit even for infants is great. I can allow her to sit up a little more (which she is beginning to prefer) but still feel like she is well supported if she falls asleep in the car. I LOVE the little slots where you can slide the clips from the seat into- we were always struggling with tucking those out of the way with her infant carrier. It's the little things! The fabric is extremely soft and seems breathable- I feel like she doesnt get quite as hot as she did in her infant carrier. My only struggle was with the actual install- I reread the instructions multiple times, but just found they weren't intuitive at all.

A carseat fit for a king
July 2, 2019
I received this product from the WeeSpring Parent Panel in exchange for my honest review. I am going to preface my review by saying I am a first time mom and already have been using another brands travel system with an infant car seat. The seat is fit for a king! My son literally looked like he was sitting in his throne! Out of the box, I thought this car seat was beautiful! It has a nice clean look and I received the night black one that looks great in my car that is black interior. The padding is ample and soft making it a comfortable ride. There are many safety features that double as padding to add to the comfort while keeping my baby safe. The fact that it will easily grow with my baby without giving up the safety features thanks to the adjustable headrest and adjustable side impact protection is great. Lastly, with a 12 year expiration date and a 10 year life...this seat will be the last seat I need to purchase for my little man. The features I wasn't as fond of...it is bulk and heavy! I can't imagine taking this out and leaving it at daycare so it can be used in either my or my husband's car as we both pick-up/drop off at daycare (like we do with our current system). In addition, I had a very difficult time getting it initially installed and had to go back and forth with the manual. Also, once you have it installed, it is impossible to adjust the recline in my car. I will have to loosen everything in order to do so. I also really prefer that with my current system I am able to take the infant car seat out to get him buckled in and then easily clicking it into the stroller or base. I am sure that when he outgrows these needs and I have it forward facing this will be our go to...but since it is heavy, difficult to install and not compatible with our current stroller system, I will be storing it for later use. Thank you WeeSpring and I can't wait to give this a more thorough use once he outgrows his current seat!

Comfy cozy, but a bit hot and bulky
July 2, 2019
I received this product as a part of the weeSpring parent panel in exchange for an honest review. I am the mama of a 5 year old girl and a 1 year old boy; this car seat was used for my one year old son. One of the benefits of this car seat that I LOVE is that in the rear facing position is reclined and very comfortable, he can lay back and rest versus being awkward in another brand. The chest piece, straps, and belt can lay flat with the skin and do not dig into him. The cupholders are built into the arms and are very sturdy; which is amazing with small children. The car seat itself is curved with sturdy padding that curve around him to create a safe pocket for him; I feel secure that there is a lot of shock protection for him in the terrible event of an accident. Install of the car seat was SUPER easy which is awesome, we were able to adjust the straps in a flash as well; which I LOVED. Some obstacles with the chair are with the padding. There is a back pad that is not secured down so it moves a lot; while trying to load him you have to hold that back pad which is a tough when you have a wiggly boy. I had to remove the padding that covers the buckle in between his legs because it made it VERY hard to buckle him in with that big pad covering it; I kept it for when it is really hot here in AZ so it doesn't burn his legs but it is so hard to buckle easily with it on. As an Arizonan in July, heat is a real thing. My little man is super sweaty when removed from his car seat, the fabric really holds the heat in on him.

Tough installation, easy adjustments
July 1, 2019
Though the Maxi Cosi Magellan and I started off on the wrong foot, our relationship has grown and I can actually admit now that my first impression (not a great one!) of this car seat was wrong. Here's what happened: When you go to install the car seat, you notice three main things: 1) The Magellan is a massive seat that will only fit in SUVs and sedans with plenty of room between the front and second rows, 2) Maxi Cosi forces the user to remove the cover partially while installing, which is doable but also a complete pain, and 3) this car seat's installation process is not easy! You will need the manual, an endless amount of patience, and another cup of coffee. Once installed, however, if you're like me and find some car seats too difficult to adjust without having to attack the shoulder straps from under the seat (adding precious seconds to the time you expect your toddler to sit still and listen to you), you will immediately appreciate what a breeze the Magellan's seats are to loosen. As far as our other household reviewer (our huge 2-year-old) is concerned, this is a car seat just like other car seats, except that the cup holders are too small and wobbly (they don't seem to fit flush with the seat) to be very useful. To me the fabric seems more plush and the seat looks more comfortable than most seats, but to our toddler this is just another seat that keeps him from digging into the cup holders with his hands like a bear scooping honey out of a pot with his adorable paws. I digress, but the point is that the attached cup holders are too small and could use improvement. In terms of safety, I assume this seat is as safe as other seats, as long as you can get a proper installation on it (again, very difficult!). I would not purchase this car seat for another car, since it takes up so much space and is difficult to install. Thanks to the weeSpring Parent Panel for providing me with thisĀ Convertible Car Seat!!

Easy to install, great for travl
July 1, 2019
I always dread having to switch out my carseat and reinstall from my car to my husbands or when we are traveling. That was until I used the Maxi Cost Magellan. It is simple and easy to install with built in levels to ensure you are installing the carseat correctly rear and forward facing. I love that the carseat position/incline can be adjusted. Being able to adjust the position of the incline helps when the carseat is in our smaller vehicle (Mazda sedan) to give more room to the front passenger and driver. Our other carseat doesn't allow enough room for anyone to even sit in the front seat when the carseat is installed directly behind it. This is HUGE for us and one of the main reasons I have already recommended this carseat. It can be a bit tricky to reach my hand to the lever once the seat is installed. I find it easier to adjust in my SUV (Jeep Cheroke) than sedan as my hand cannot fit between the sedan seat and the carseat to adjust once installed. My other favorite feature is the one hand adjust for the headrest and harness. Keeping this positioned correctly for my growing toddler is so important in keeping him safe! This carseat really does grow with your baby. When purchasing a carseat for my son, I first look at safety ratings, then ease of installing and weight for travel. The ability to clean with ease had never been a thought of mine before this carseat. Now that I know how easy it can be, I would add this to my list. The Maxi Cosi Fabric is soft to the touch and after lots of car snacks, potty training accidents and road trips, the fabric holds up well and is a breeze to wipe clean or toss in the washing machine. I received my Maxi Cosi Magellan from weeSpring for free in exchange for my honest review.

Great seat for all stages!
July 1, 2019
This seat is a great fit for my two kids (4 years and 17 months). I love that it will grow with my kiddos and that it is good for 10 years! I've installed and used this seat in the forward facing position with my 4 year old and the rear facing position with my 17 month old and both kids were safe and comfy. Installation, as with most car seats I've tried, took a little time and I could see where it might be confusing. It was well worth the extra time to review all the instructions inside the house before I tried putting it into the car. Because the seat fits baby-toddlers-and beyond there are a lot of removable cushions to ensure a good, comfortable fit at any stage. It took a little bit of time to figure out what cushions/inserts were needed to ensure the best fit for my kids, but once we had that sorted getting them in and out was simple. I love the built in 'easy out harness holders', which ensured I didn't have to dig around under a squirming kid to find the harness straps. Because I can adjust the headrest/harness height so easily with just one hand, we ended up using this as the only car seat in one of our cars and I've left it rear facing and adjust it to fit either my 4yo or 17mo depending on who I have with me. The seat is wide, so probably not the best choice for someone wanting to put three carseats across, but it has a lot of space in the seat and even when rear-facing my 4yo doesn't look cramped (he still fits the height/weight requirements for rear facing). The fabric is soft and spot cleaned very easily. My only complaint with this seat is that the built in cupholders are too small for the child water bottles we use on the go. All in all, this is a great car seat that will work for many years and, because it is so easy to adjust the harness height, it is a great option when you need to have one seat you use with different sized kids. Thanks to the weeSpring Parent Panel for providing me with this Convertible Car Seat to try!
