Issues with the bottom buckle
May 31, 2019
I like these seats, but I have a few issues with them. First, it is hard to get the bottom button unbuttoned. I have two use two hands, on my previous seats I could unsnap it with one hand, which was good because these seats are in the third row of my Explorer and I can only lean the second row seat forward a tiny bit to reach back there.
Also, despite it being hard to unbutton the bottom, it is also hard to get it to fully engage the button as well. When I click the two clips into the bottom button, i feel and hear a small clip, but it has come open while driving before. I have learned I really have to push hard to get the bottom button to fully engage. It shouldn't be that hard to safely secure.
Finally, the bottom button is too small. My kids sit on it when they climb in their seat and it is kind of hard to retrieve it from under their bottom. My previous seats had a much larger fabric gaurd around the bottom button so they could crawl over it and it wasnt constantly getting trapped under them when they crawled in their seat.
These aren't huge issues, but given that I have two of these seats in the third row and really have to stretch to reach back there, it is cumbersome. For the price, I would recommend them to most people, but to another mom who is 5'2 like me, if she is using them in the exact same situation I am, I don't think I would recommend them.
