I love the ease of the buckles to harness my child. However, I hate the latch system and doing it with the lap belt. I cannot get a tight enough buckle down in my vehicle. I've tried everything to get a tight belt secure that's still safe.

We used a Contender 65 with my oldest son and now we are using them with our twins. Unfortunately, the quality of the car seats have gone down over the years and I was actually kind of disappointed with these once they were installed. They're better than Walmart cheapies, but not up to Graco's usual standards. To get started, the fabric is now cheap. It has a foam-ish feel and it just doesn't seem like it's going to stand up well to heavy use. Besides that, the harness adjustment switch has been put in such a ridiculous location. It's in the front between the legs like it always has been, but they put it WAY up in the seat. So much so that it's completely inaccessible when the seat is rear-facing. To remedy the horrific design, I would up taking out a seam ripper and removing the stitching on either side of the flap that covers the lever to adjust the harness tightness. With the sides freed, I can juuuusssttt reach my finger in there to make adjustments. So, minus 1 star for the cheaper fabric and minus another star for whoever decided to place that adjustment button so far back on the seat.

I bought this a while ago so I had plenty of time to test it and we went from rear facing to forward facing with ease, it can also be washed quite easily as well.

I bought a contender 65 in March 2016 for my then 1.5 yo son and loved it. It was involved in an accident and I replaced it with another contender. I bought another contender for my then 9 mo daughter in October 2019. It's a well built, solid car seat with all the basics I need without any unnecessary extras. I use one in each of our vehicles for my daughter, rear facing, and know that these seats will stand up to the abuse my kids will give them until she outgrow the seats, in another 7-8 years.

Nice and basic car seat that I gave my daycare provider for the occasional times she needs to take my daughter in the car. Easy to install.

We really like this car seat. We use it as our travel (haven't tried it on airplane yet) and seat for 3rd car/nanny/grandma car. It is easy to install, take out, tighten and loosen harness on my almost 3 year old. Cup holder is helpful too.

The seat seems good but the button to release the straps is very difficult to press when rear facing. This makes using the seat frustrating.

If your child has a puking accident, the straps aren't washable, they don't come out. The only option to wash them it to spot clean them! We will have to replace one of our twins car seats because of this. I've used everything I can think of and her straps STILL smell like vomit!

I bought this seat for my mother (and now my mother in law is going to get one too), for when she has my LO and wants to run errands with him. It was super easy to install, and I think I like it more than the extend2fit! My LO is super comfortable and is a bit more high up so he can see out the window. I love how it has the LATCH system or using the seatbelt! I 10/10 reccomend this carseat. Definitely look for sales on this carseat, its worth it. Its slightly bigger than the e2f but my mom does have a slightly bigger car than me (I have a civic 4dr hatchback and she has a Buick) I love how easy it is to tighten and upright thr straps are. I had a hard time with the e2f!

Graco makes my life as a mom easier! I love this car seat. It is easy to install rear facing or forward facing. The instructions are clearly printed on the car seat for the belt paths so you can ensure that your are installing it correctly. The cover is easy to remove for cleaning and to replace on the shell. My daughter seems comfortable when traveling. Great purchase that I am glad I made!

We've had this car seat for about a year now and ordered it directly from Graco. Overall, it's been a good car seat. It's easier to get our kid in and out than other car seats we've used. My favorite feature is that the head rest and shoulder belts are extremely easy to adjust higher and lower. You can adjust them from kid to kid just by holding the lever in the back. The only thing I don't like is that the connectors are just the standard clips, which make it a pain to install and remove the seat from our vehicles. If you just keep it in the same car all the time though it works just fine.

This car seat is spacious and easy to tighten straps but if my son falls asleep his head falls forward and I worry about cutting off his airways.

I've had this car seat for over a year now. Perfect car seat to transition to after our infant car seat for my twins. I like the extra padding in the seat area. I do wish there was a second cup holder, but other then that it's easy to install & works great.

Honestly not a easy install and hate that I had to spend more money to buy stuff to get it correctly reclined and the huge gap between the first and second slot for harness.

We did a lot of research on a good car seat for air travel (as our normal ones are too wide and heavy) and this one was highly recommended. Not only did it work well on our Southwest flights, but this chair is one of a few that have a belt path that is external to the seat - so the belt buckle is not against our 1-year old's back! That was great. It was easily installed on our flights and relatively lightweight compared to our normal carseats. It was also great to take the cover off and throw it in the wash when we came back from our trip. The reason for the 4 stars is the padding - it is very thin compared to what we are used to with our more expensive regular car seats. Our baby didn't seem to mind the seat, and we are definitely going to use it again when we travel. I personally wouldn't use it for every day just because we are used to a much thicker padding.

Does the job flawlessly. Does not break the bank. Fits well in all of our vehicles! Bravo Graco!

We just received our car seat and used once but I am already pleased. First installation took me a bit but once we adjusted it to my car I became quicker at it. The anchor strap does require some unscrewing if you want to flip it around but it took my husband all of one minute. I drive a 2 door Dodge Challenger and I am able to put both the seats back with it anchored in the middle spot. It is large and a little cumbersome to place little one into but that's due to my car not the seat, being a convertible seat it will be larger than just an infant car seat. She seemed comfortable and enjoyed sitting up a little more.

I bought this seat based on the great reviews. As a rear facing seat it was great, in the forward facing position the seat itself has a pretty deep recline. It's difficult to put a 30 pound child in the seat with recline. Since the child will be in this position for a longer period of time if I had known this I wouldn't have purchased the seat. I've purchased several Graco seats and have never had a problem.

This is my second purchase of the graco contender 65. The first one I absolutely adored however with this second purchase I am not so happy. Please keep in mind o had my first one for awhile and just bought a new one within the past week. I bought the glacier model. The only issue I have is with the button on the bottom by the child's feet to losen the harness. It's incredibly difficult to use. With my previous purchase it had a little latch/lever to lift up and it was super easy to pull the harness. Why make this one so difficult???? Unless I can get an exchange for one with the lever I will be returning it as it is too difficult to use.

We have a terrible time with the latch system!! It is SO HARD!! My husband even has difficulty, has to use pliers and even then he struggles. I cannot do it at all!!

This is the only convertible seat we have used for our toddler. He loves the cup holders and can sleep comfortably on long car trips. I gave 4 stars because it is slightly difficult to install.

Love the simplicity in this seat. Nothing difficult about setting up (no extra unnecessary pieces) and so easy to strap in and tighten my son up-also easy to loosen and unbuckle. Great seat!

We bought this seat for our little nugget when he outgrew our portable car seat at 7mo. He has used it ever since and is now 3.5yrs. We had it rear facing until about a month ago when we moved him to the middle seat. He loves the cup holder and uses it daily. It's easy to clean and dries quickly. My only complaint is that it is difficult to use the latch system when the seat is rear facing. The hooks are super hard to release and install, since turning him around the latch is much easier to use. I wish it had an easy latch release button like some of my other car seats have.
