Didn't Work Correctly from Time of (New) Purchase

We were so happy with the 4moms mamaRoo that we subsequently (within ~1 month) bought the rockaRoo, infant bath, and breeze PLUS playard. Unfortunately, the rockaRoo has not performed as expected since purchase (purchased new). The rocking motion is not fluid at any level and it takes several moments to start the motion. Once started, after a couple of minutes (~2) the unit jerks, flashes, then turns off. We were hoping for a more reliable product from 4moms, this was a disappointment. Given two stars because we never used the warranty, our error.
More detail - there were no obstructions while in use; we used a weighted test baby to troubleshoot above mentioned issues. My (engineer) husband took the top plastic piece off and confirmed that the seat rocks well on its own and the rope pulley mechanism is intact; however, the motor is pulling the ropes at the wrong time in the cycle (probably a control loop calibration problem).
